Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There was some mention in the early stages that we might make a play for Jack Gunston as a possible swap for Sam Frost. The door was closed on that rather swiftly.

Perhaps we might turn our attention to his cousin Norman?

Or his mate Aunty Jack?

I know a few on here are hoping it's Gunston, but I think he's cooked. After taking unders to win premierships in true Hawks style, I reckon he's been told to top up his super somewhere else. Not interested.

Unless something happens from left field I believe our KPF's for 2020 will be TMac, the Weid and possibly Petty.

IMO that is not a pretty sight however that is the extent of it so we will have to develop a game plan that is built around one KPF.

Hopefully the other two can occasional chip in with a good game to keep the oposition defence honest.

We are going to need a lot of goals from our half forwards and mids to regularly kick winning score lines.

Cooked at 27? I think he might have a couple of games left in him.

I know it sounds odd. Something just wasn't right with him this year.

Could have taken us apart single handed in that 2018 final if he'd kicked straight but I do agree his 2019 season wasn't that great.

If the price and contract term(2 years at most) were right we'd have to think very hard though.

Without dominant key forwards, we need to have KPF's who are able to bring the ball to ground pretty much all the time to allow our smaller player's (hopefully the likes of Fritsch, Trac, Lockhart, Harmes, (Weightman if drafted) to crumb the pack.

The only problem is that we have almost all players' compete for the ball in the air while not enough stay down, allowing opposition numbers to waltz the ball out of the back-line.

Goody needs to drill this into the forward groups heads to have one compete in the air and the rest ready to mop up any balls that hit the deck.

That's what the Foreard line Coach is for!!

Are you serious? As if Gunston would move for a 2 year deal. He'd only move for at least a 4 year deal on big money.

Yokozuna clues make him the most likely target IMO and there has been plenty of debate about how the Hawks will fit all their talls with Patton into the forward line and they just traded in a gun tall back apparently.

Maybe they want pick 3. Maybe the deal is 3 for Gunston + 11.

I really like Gunston as a player, well love to hate him and appreciate his talent.

But is he really what we need? Fritsch, McDonald, Melksham or play a similar role.

In my mind we need a full forward who can split packs and allow McDonald to play 2nd tall and Weid third.

He mentioned tyre-kicking but I’m not really sure how that applies to an AFL player; we approached him and showed interest however were never serious about buying?

Perhaps the opposite?

The target entertained our advances, but ultimately had no intention of leaving?

I think we need class up front, of any size. As we have seen in previous years collingwood, richmond (2017) and west coast have been contending with different mixes of forward sizes.

I think Harmes could be moved to play a large percentage up forward. Hes got good size, and would give us great ground level presence, plus loves a goal. This would free up a spot in the middle for Gus, whose form dipped when moved to a wing.

I think we also need to pray that Fritsch, Trac and Weid take the next step. Only time will tell.

Great post. Our forward line could be enhanced by either adding a Ben Brown or a Tom Papely. It’s about class not type.

One player I think is probably attainable is Brody Mihocek. He’d be on low money and the pies cap is tight.

Wonder if it would be worth having a crack at McCartin?

Not only has he been cruelled by injuries, I'm not entirely sure he's the type built for the modern game. Seems like a goal square gorilla with a lack of tank.

I supposed it'd depend on what we give up for him.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
