Goal Kicking Coach (Part Time): Brad Green, Nick Riewoldt, David Neitz, Matthew Lloyd.

New position, clearly needed.

NB - No former Demons were included solely on the basis they are former Demons.

Threw up a few names early on in the assistants thread. Anyone heard any names mentioned? (Mine were just suggestions)

Its about blxxdy time!

Such an obvious thing to do!

While we are at it, an experienced forward coach please.

All year, I've been frustrated with defenders trying to be forward coaches, especially as many of our forwards are inexperienced in their role at AFL level and are converted defenders and midfielders.  At some stage we need players who are skilled and experienced in their role.

This feels like a light bulb moment for them in charge.. lets be honest, this is a position that should be full time and coveted just as much as any position, after all, to win a game, you have to kick goals.

Not sure who it is, but its really important. Also so is 2 Assistant coaches that we have not filled yet or heard anything about. Must be news about these positions sooner rather than later.

Slowly, one by one the things many of us suggested here during the season and the company men, argued against at ever turn come to pass.  Enough to make some bark at the Moon or its shadow.

"OK guys, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm the new forwards coach. Today we'll be going over some techniques ... now when I was a defender, I preferred my forward staying nice and close. You, come over here. Stand next to me ... now, see how easy it is for me to punch the ball away? Remember that. Now, going on a lead ... go for the pockets ... right next to the boundary line ... no ... no, don't go right out in front ... we want a nice tight angle ..."

"Uh ... coach ... shouldn't you be teaching us the things you DON'T like a forward to do?"

"Oh, you'd need a forward for that."

"And ...?"

"Well, the ex forwards are coaching the defenders! They can't be in two places at once! Now, playing from behind. I used to love it when my forward played from behind ... now watch carefully ..."   (fade to black)

Haven’t heard anything, but Brad Green would be my preferred goal kicking coach. He was as close to the perfect kick for goal that this club has had.

I think Brad would be fantastic.

I also would love to see Brad Green back at the club, he certainly could assist with forward line craft as well as kicking, what a great player he was for Dee's.

Find a quote where I was against a goal kicking coach or any change of any assistants?

You can't.

First task by the new coach should be to cut out the silly snaps and around the corner kicks in the pre-game warm up.

Remember reading an article last year on Breust, it mentioned he had a very simple and effective way of practising goal kicking prior to a match. About 15-20 shots from 20-30m directly in front. Getting the basics right, working on technique rather than trying to slot goals from M57 Olympic Stand.

I know we aren’t the only team that does this but it still bugs me big time.

Yes DZ not only a great player but felt he was seen as  underrated  IMO.

I wonder  if Brad was ever approached for a position as an assistant coach with us.

Yes he had forward craft and was a consistent set shot.

Absolute textbook technique- would have to be a leading candidate.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
