I'm a Petty fan but he's a little slow and inconsistent at the contests, probably will always be better suited up the ground. I think we need to get back to using late round/rookie picks as they were intended to be used and taking some project talls.

I reckon he'll play better as an interceptor, but with a bit more bulk, he could easily play the Astbury role in time.

Hoges.  Freo played us beautifully with the theatre of walking away.

Clarko is a genius though.  Gets rid of the trash that others think are treasure.

Clarkson doesn’t do the trades, it’s Graham Wright.

What about the rest of them?  Do you let them off the hook?  You shouldn't.

They're all as bad as each other.  Coach killers but the coach isn't that good either.

I'd clear the decks rather than try and single anyone out

The players rule the roost and the club lets them do it.  Most people I know that are non Demons all make the same observation.

And the same types of players who rule the roost are the first to jump ship when it suits them.

Of course you don't let them off the hook but you can't get rid of 25 players in one hit

Frost just happens to be unfortunate enough to play a position we have a few options in. If he was a small forward his turnovers wouldn't be so much of an issue and he'd probably have a contract. Alas as a key defender he's always going to be on borrowed time when we have May Lever OMac (regardless what you might think if him) and Petty in a development role

Agree to disagree on Frosty Wise, Frosty can play on more than just the KPF. I believe we could have May, Lever and Frost in the same side if we got more creative/damaging drive from our two back flankers and wingers.

Hore May Jetta

Salem Lever Hibberd

Where does Frost fit in?

If someone doesn’t want to be at the club, why would you keep him? Surely it’s that simple. I don’t care how good or bad he was. If he can’t buy into the red and blue, get the best deal you can for him.

Ive certainly gone cold on Frost. And it’s obvious by the clubs reaction - or lack of - that they have too.

Best of luck sunshine.

Old De mentioned in a post on previous page Frosty still hasn’t been offered a contract, Goody doesn’t want him.

I don't think Jetta and Hibberd are long term, whether or not Frost goes.

No. The primary job of a defender is to stop the opposition scoring goals.

Apologies, I’m confused. I thought that’s what I was getting out. What did you think I said? Or do you mean that by his turnovers he creates goals for the opposition hence not stopping them? And against if that is the case what is everyone else doing?

We've got about another 20 players in the same category.  C & D graders dominate the list

But you'd never know it reading these threads.  I know the thread is about Frost but we get way too focused on 1 player here.

Frost really isn't the problem.  The list has gone backwards at a rate of knots and the coaching the same.  If we don't get a big influx of real talent we'll be lucky to win 8 games next year.  Forget 2018 - that ship has sailed.

Hibberd is as slow as a wet week,  Jetta is just about done,  Salem has regressed,  May is injury prone and Lever the same.  Hore looks ok.

Looks good on paper only

If this is the case then he would want to play a hell of a lot better than he has to keep his spot.

I dont want him in the side just to develop him if he plays like he did this season. That’s what the vfl is for.

That's not correct IMO. We have a very talented list and most of it is under 25. We had a shocking year in 2019 but that was the aberration. A fit list with an extra year and a good preseason, add a bit of Langdon and Tomlinson, one of KK or VDB and we will be right back in the thick of the action.

Hope your right 55 but I also said that we'd be lucky to win 8 games if we 'Don't' add some real talent

Like most,  I'm hoping that at the end of trade period,  free agency period and the draft that we have added that real talent to the list

Not sure we'll snag Elliot but if were to secure him along with Tomlinson,  Langdon,  a traded in talent or 2 and a couple of decent draftee prospects,  we're back in the game.  We might even trade out a player who has currency.  I haven't heard anything but nothing would surprise me as Goodwin has to get the team winning again to keep the wolves at bay.

The biggest issue I see is our forward line.  Marking power and goal kicking ability.  Our mids need to start hitting the scoreboard too.

All that happens and I wouldn't rule out out an 11 win season.  1 or 2 more wins and we're back in the finals.

But I see next year as one where we hopefully consolidate ourselves again (after recruiting well in the off-season) And then launch from there.  But all things are possible in footy.  You just never know.

Surely we've all seen enough of Lever one on one by now to know that's not the answer.

I think he's going to have to develop into the role 'Dee'...

We can't afford to have one man just hanging around for the intercept, he's going to have to carry his weight when required.

I liked Oscar until 2019.  But he went backwards in 2019 more than any other young player ever. 19-23 year olds should be making big improvements year on year, especially 195cm ones. But here’s a theory.

Viney was on his fat burning muscle wasting diet this year and was so convinced by it that he did the article at the end of April, and surely he influenced other Melbourne players.  Viney’s  another story but I want the angry beast from last September back, not the slimmed down version from this year.  Photo from 2018 below.

If Omac copied, it explains why he was pulled mid June and ordered back in the gym.  Muscle wastage.

Just a theory, but look at Omac from the clubs March 2018 Facebook post.  Looks completely different to this years ineffective version.  Just wonder how many players copied Viney. Looking forward to what Burgess does. Probably the easiest job he has ever had.

Ralph in the Hun (apologies if posted in this thread already)

Melbourne believes Oscar McDonald can fill the third defensive tall option alongside Steven May and Jake Lever, even though Frost was ninth in the Demons best-and-fairest this year.

Tell me it ain't so... never seen a worse 1:1 defender than OMac - good kick, not a bad mark, but dead set horrible 1:1.

This whole media obsession with Clarko is borderline repulsive. By the some way people speak about him you’d think he was captain, coach, list manager, physio, CEO and running the social media accounts

Oh god. Surely Hore and Petty are in front of OMaC for a defensive spot. The whole reason why I reckon we’re allowing Frost to go is bc those two have come on so well. Do we really need to get that tall against most teams? Besides his terrible ability 1 on 1, omac cant intercept mark, is slow when it hits the ground, and is a rubbish kick.

Lever is not a key back. Looks lost man on man. His best is playing the 3rd defender who comes off his man.

Hore can help but is better as a mid sized defender.  Had a very good year and showed why a VFL background is a handy entry to AFL

Frost shutdown most key forwards this year.  We can only hope that May’s hamstring lasts more than 2 weeks in a row.

Petty is developing but needs to go from slow to medium. I am hopeful.

Oscar Mc.  No. Oh no. 2 years of woe. Slow. Ineffective. Out bodied.  Lucky to get a game with Casey really.

Have to agree he costs us 3 goals a game, and if his to be the 3rd defender then Lever has to play one on one on the second tall, and from what I've seen he is just as bad

I know but if May was injured and Lever can’t play one on one or injured like the last round then it could happen.

But what ever floats ur boat.

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
