Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tom Browne reported this morning that draft bolter Cody Weightman is being considered by St  Kilda at pick 6 but also Dees with our first pick.

177cm All Australian electrifying small forward who plays for Dandenong Stingrays.

Obviously the theme for us during the draft will be small forwards and outside players.

Yes we need a small forward, and pace and flair and skill.  There is no boom recruit on the list developing nicely, no back up talls.

Last year we drafted short...we need everything except inside mids...

He’s a good small forward, but doubt he’s worth pick 3. Late first round early second round I’d have thought.

I know we need small forwards, but you draft on talent not need so early in the draft. If we used pick 2-3 on him, I’d seriously question the recruiting staff.

Weightman is a Spargo like player.  Not the 200+ gamer that is the top 10 aim.

I would rate 20 youngsters well before Weightman.

JT would be a lunatic to pick him at 3.

Spargo cant jump/leap or take a grab.

This comment just proved that you have not watched Weightman in the flesh live and only going off what you read on Bigfooty draft boards.

I shall and won't explain any further only to say that Weightman is a completely different player to Spargo. And this coming from someone who had a lot to do with Charlie when he was coming through our development squad in the Murray Bushrangers program.

So DD36 would you advocate us taking him with our first pick? possibly at 3?

No.

But it shows the type of payers we will be looking at. Small forwards and outside runners. Weightman obviously fits that bill.

Thanks mate,  good to have your expertise on these things, as im not an avid u/18 watcher, but its clearly a need for us and he might be a good pick if we split our first pick, would you take him at pick 14 if he is there?

This is my exact thought.  If we do split our pick into the teens then i think we will definitely consider Weightman.

For pick 3 i would be looking at either Hayden Young or Sam Flanders. I had Lachie Ash alongside Young, but have changed as i still feel he needs a good body of work if he is to push up to a midfield role. Have a feeling he will drop a couple of spots.

Flanders is pushing himself really hard into top 5 contention. Keep an eye on him.

177cm hardly makes him tall, would call that short by AFL standards unless he's had a sudden growth spurt.

Point is he doesn't look undersized, like Spargo. The comparison makes no sense.

I agree with everything Dazzle has said. He's exactly the sort of player we should be looking at, especially if we can trade down.

Thanks for the feedback on this kid, Davos. In time, can you seeing him being capable of moving up the ground for stints or is he a small forward specialist?

It says in the below article that he can, but from what I've seen I'd rather he just focused on being as damaging as possible forward. In the few times I've seen him, he's one of those small forwards that looks dangerous whenever they're near the ball.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
