That’s utter tripe and I’d go as far as to say you’ve fabricated that, or at the very least the person who told you this has.

I will go along with that, had similar thoughts when I first read the post by general malaise

Whatever you reckon Macho.

Go as far as you want. No axes to grind here.

Well of course you did it doesn't fit with your narrative.

I don't know him at all, but I was talking to someone last week who does. Regards him as a 'good mate' and has reasonable shared footy history.

Totally unprompted by me he volunteered that Goody's a 'control freak' who 'won't listen to anybody'.

There was more that suggests he won't seek or listen to a new mentor figure.

Could be why Jennings ideas weren't heard.

From a quick look, it appears the General has had the odd good mail in the past. So that, combined with the fact I've heard similar things (albeit third hand), means his comment should at least be listened to.

There has to be more to the story of this vision from after the Crows game in Adelaide which we held on to win.

To me it looks like perhaps Jennings and Goody had a disagreement on a strategy. Goodwin ignored Jennings idea. We ended up winning despite that and Goody let Jennings know about it with a "told ya so I know what I'm doing" slap.

Gee we are probably clutching at straws but that is damning vision. Jennings body language says it all. No response. Looks completely embarrassed or defeated.

I really like what Goodwin did there.

Going by  hearsay can lead to lot of trouble,

Did Jennings ever smile? I certainly didn’t see one.

That video footage is very interesting. Just won a nail biter and Jennings is far from happy..

A perfect example of confirmation bias.

However Jennings has a history of not showing much emotion in the box

Same sort of vision when we beat west coast in 2017 , tmac bicycle kick game , so not sure if this is an isolated incident . Also look at the vision when we beat Gold Coast earlier this year,  they don’t call him stone cold  Craig Jennings for nothing

I don't have one Bingo, just reporting what I heard. I've not pushed a point on it either way.

Still a very strange reaction when everyone else is stoked...

I'm wondering if Craig Jennings is the sort of bloke to eat fava beans and drink Chianti and have a walk in meat freezer in his home.

On the clip above, to me it looks like a sigh of relief by Jennings. Geelong toasted us in the last quarter the week before, Crows almost repeated it and he’s silently like ‘ thank f..k Nibbler’.

That vision was the 2017 West Coast game...

I never said it did. You're good at presuming for other posters.

It is clearly a reflection of the disfunction/failure of our present coaching set up - against what many of the happy clappers have been saying. I think I have worked out what camp you're in.

You certainly implied it with your "but Goody's the man" comment. What did you mean by that if not a snide comment at his future prospects?

There seems to be a level of anger behind your posts, I hope you're not this miserable in the real world. We all love the club but at the end of the day it's only a game, your teams performance is not a reflection on you.

He also didn't give a rat's when Tom McDonald kicked the miracle goal at Subi so surely just 100% pure Stone Cold.

The other assistants in that interaction appear to be in Goody's ok box.  Each of them gets an acknowledging /friendly pat, back slap or in the case of one, even a hand shake (somewhat closer than the others?). but there still doesn't appear as if there's a "relaxed/genuine" open camaraderie there in a general sense.  Alot of tension IMV.

As for Jennings and Goody WOW!  A slap on any part of the head from another dude, particularly over the back of the head like that (across or on the face also) a huge no no / put down and a massive red flag that there was/is no love lost between the two.  Very aggeessive response by Goody and indicates a major breakdown of trust/openness between them at some point IMV.  I'm surprised Jennings didn't move on earlier after seeing that vision.

According to reports, some senior players were very fond of Jennings.  Jones very keen on Jennings also.  I wonder if this incident and the fall out between the two (Goody & Jennings) was part of a catalyst that's slowly spread right through the playing group from the Captain down following the Adelaide win (earlier?)...

Extract Courtesy of AFL Nation:

..." Melbourne co-captain Nathan Jones endorsed Jennings last year as a senior coach-in-waiting, praising his tactical nous and ability to present ideas in a "refreshing" manner.

"He's one of the best minds in footy I've seen," Jones told AFL Nation.

"He is quite quirky, particularly in the way he educates and teaches players, which is terrific, really."

P.S. You would have thought we'd win a prelim or better the way Goody reacted to that.  Just a regular H&A win.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
