Funny old game. Jetta goes inside 50, not long after Fritsch marks in front of May, with Petty not far away.

Can't tell off the screen, is anyone playing in defense?

Great fight back.

Viney playing a great game.

Fritta doing a top job up forward.

Jetta getting amongst it as is Harmes.

Brilliant move Lewis up forward  (who ever would have thought).

Have been quite happy with Corey Wagner's game so far as will.

Full credit to Goody and the coaching staff.  The move of both Lewis and Fritsch (from the first bounce) up forward has been a masterstroke and has contributed 5 of our 7 goals.

Can't fault the endeavour, the effort and the willingness to fight for the shirt.  The skills, especially under pressure, haven't always stood up but on the other hand we've played some ripping footy.

Fingers crossed we can keep it up and cause an upset!

Can’t please some of the fools,on here. Real bandwagoners.

We are beating them in all stats except centre clearances and frees ...just behind in contested.  Oh and obviously getting beaten on conversion...again.

Full credit yeah, taking 2 years to realise neither is a defender... lifetime of credits their, Goody, bravo.

I'm annoyed at you Goodwin.

Fritsch was always a forward. Always.

True potential wasted in the back line

When May, Lever, Jetta and Lewis were all out, we almost didn't have an option but to put him back.  Now that they're all back we have the freedom to stick him there.

Relax guys, we’ve got this

our new star forward line fritter and lewis, good grief

Jesus Lewis can’t even kick them. What a total waste of opportunities.

He’s slightly off balance his wig is so large on the back of his head

I agree - I've always felt he was a forward, but necessity predicated that we needed him elsewhere.

Hopefully he now stays there.

Umpires gave us a fair go that quarter and we kicked straightish to get back into it.

also I love how both Ryan and Rioli have flown on top of packs taking out defenders with no realistic attempt at the ball, allowing Their big forwards to Mark unopposed. OK by the umps it seems.

Random question.  Why in our home game did a west coast fan toss the coin?

I must say lewis is holding McGovern to account

Because we are being paid a million bucks

I'm aware about the lack of personnel that prompted the move in the defense. But I'd argue that someone else should have been put back, given that our forward line was such a mess. Fritsch's foot skills didn't shine all that often back there, after all.

Fritsch in the forward line is full credit?

I'm not a wrist slasher, but lol.

Did I say we should sack him?

Perhaps one of our coaches should tell the players where the wind is going and how to kick for goal? Or perhaps we should practice our skills? Or maybe ANB shouldn’t be getting games when he’s so bad?

I mentioned the umpiring is a disgrace but so is our skills and defensive efforts and that is 100% on the coaches

Jaded we usually agree on our team, but we are letting our players off by blaming the Coach for everything.

We have outplayed the Eagles who need to win for top four, with no forward line and horrendous umpiring. If we had kicked what we should we would be 5-6 goals up. Does the Coach get credit for that?

I blame the players for missing gimme goals today, like they have all year.

Goodwin has made mistakes but teams can’t win when they butcher the ball and we are according to stats the worst at it in history.

My god I am a fan of Petty but seriously 2 misses from 15 out straight in front. Lewis just missed from 5 metres out for his 3rd miss and was lucky to get another kick.

The most important thing we need above all else is the ability to kick straight both at goal and passing.

I have to go now and buy another TV, because I have kicked this one to pieces.

PS. Senior players can work out the breeze after one shot. They are dumb.

Who would you have put there?  With those guys out we were already forced to play Oscar, J Wagner etc down there.  We needed a little but of class and footy IQ.  Granted, he never always hit the target, but he did it more often than others.

If Lewis keeps playing like that as a defensive forward for the rest of the year and hits the scoreboard regularly does he stay another year?

Demonland should be appointed to the coaching panel- we have been advocating Fritsch to the forward line all  season.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
