It was pretty much confirmed for me when he went off last week but I just wanted to know when a late change has to be announced/confirmed.

Team sheets are due in xxx (I think around 30 minutes) before the game starts. That's the last time for a change save for a "fresh" injury after submission. (Travis Boak was withdrawn yesterday during the warm up for example. Interesting ... he suffered back spasms which one would think could be described as a pre existing injury.)

The official team sheets have to be in 90 minutes before the bounce, so I guess we'll hear officially sometime around 11.40ish.

Can't be McGovern, we've heard of him. Will be some bloke who has played three games as a defender now kicks five.

Just wished our coach ‘all the best’ ( 3 wonder )for today, after crossing his path in East Malvern earlier this morning.

Utterly meaningless game today....but decided to go along anyway despite being hospitalised with a fairly serious issue 2 weeks ago (after the win over Freo funnily enough)....what else have I got to do with my Sunday eh? Looking forward to see Kyle debut if nothing else!

On a hiding to nothing today.

We win and they’ll say we beat a Cripps less and Curnow less Carlton,  and our coach will embarrass himself with his emotional hugging and embracing of all 22 players, like he’s done with all our other mediocre wins this year.

Lose, and we’ll rightly cop it left, right and centre.

If we don’t win today I very much doubt I’ll bother to watch another game this year.

I’m actually expecting us to play out best footy of the year and hand Carlton their arses.

You mean Beau Meister-ing it up ?

Beau Maister?  Worst player since Beau Wilkes.

If MFC put our best player at risk of exacerbating his injury in a nothing game, in a nothing season, I will be livid.

Not going today. Frankly can’t be bothered anymore. I didn’t miss a game voluntarily under Bailey or Neeld or Roos. But I’m exhausted from this season. Gonna watch from home where I can turn it off and do something better if things go wrong as they have all season.

Bring on 2020!

Confirmed Gawn out, Preuss in.

Sanity prevails. Go get em Preussy.

Well I have no idea what will happen today. No gawn is a huge loss but I'm looking forward to see preuss get a go and see what he can do.

Also looking forward to seeing dunkley debut.

I really hope Preuss does well.  For him.  For the team.  For the sanity of all the posters on DL who have been begging for him to play.

'Break a leg' big scary man!

Not long now, Demons win and Dunkley kicks a couple. Good Luck Dunks, have a ripper!

I am on the way jaded, I had a lovely morning with my granddaughters and I am think I should have stayed with them. I know how you feel.

Yes, but why the intrigue and disruption. Why would you risk Gawn even having to try and bit fit. Should have had his feet up, figuratively speaking all week.

At least you spared them the danger of seeing a win and getting hooked by  going with you.

Wish him all the best. I hope I'm wrong but I always thought his role was to free up Gawn not replace him. Bit of an unfair test if supporters are expecting more.

Preuss with support from Tom Mac and Weideman against Kreuzer... this could be instructive

Think we may win but if we don't then the carnage may begin.

The way the Doggies played. That is a team with spirit and s culture. Why can’t Melbourne play like that?

The Doggies had to fight to keep the Club alive and they now really stand for something in the Western suburbs with strong community networking, interaction and planning. Now they have the facilities that go hand in hand with the fighting spirit. That is why I see what they have achieved as a model for our future home base and a clean start.

Home base! Surely you joke.

Put me in the ‘can’t be bothered’ camp for today

First game I’ve voluntarily missed since the loss to Sydney last year when I’d just had a tooth extracted and the boss said under no circumstances was I to leave the house

Just boarding at Scumbury.

In an attempt to raise my morbid spirit, I gave myself a jolly good flogging before leaving The Manor

I’m a better man for it

Thank God you got that our of your system before you sat next to me

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
