3 upsets so far:  Ess d GWS.  Nth d Pies.  WBD d Power.

Today might make it 4 upsets with a Dees d Lions!

Glad we had only one change.  Time to settle the team and get some synergy going among fwd, backs, middle and synergy with ball movement end to end.

Optimistic that we can click today; if we do we win!

Checking in from a castle in the Azores.*

5am wake-up call but the maid won't be around till at least the last quarter. I'll have to fix my own Irish whisky.

I live 700 metres from the Gabba.  Clear blue sky right now although we had a couple of heavy showers overnight. Have had some rain most days this week so the deck may be a little slippery. Predicting 25 degrees though and no doubt for you southerners up here for the game, it will be sunscreen, shorts and polo shirts!  ? 14 degrees in Melbourne today.......

Hope to catch up with a few of you either at the German Club pre match or the Pineapple post game.

Are we ready for Frost-Ball?

If the Lions are to play finals at least make them  earn their place. Hopefully last week instilled some confidence in our team and we go out there and play some decent footy. Keen to see if the young gun Andrews goes to Weid.

Big Call- Weid to kick 3+.

Have a big fat weisenstaphaner and a schnapps for me @ProperDee

first time in a long time I won't be making the two hour trip to the Gabba.

I just can't be sure what they're going to dish up but here's hoping we've got the wheels back on.

Looking forward to more beast mode from Viney. Go Dees

This may sound optermistic but if we win today we are only 3 games behind them and 2 games out of the 8 .Can only dream we can still make finals

Nice #humbletravelbrag

Geez, I had hoped to get up there for this game. I had planned to impose on rellys for free accommodation and grog but, sadly, it fell through.

I was confident of a victory last week and am even more confident this week.

I shall enjoy my own booze and celebrate ( in my typical style)  at The Manor.

Contrary to your arrangement BBO she's the type who'd be far more likely to be handing out the jolly good spanking.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Win today and we are still in the hunt. A long shot, but still alive.

Go Hard Demons...

I give us a chance but think the bears will be hard to beat on their own dunghill.

Our percentage is quite poor. Even if we win we won't move up at all.

Both jealous and proud of any Vic based dees supporters that have made a weekend away to fly the flag and watch this one. Wish I was with you. I’m bloody freezing.

Sure. We start moving up next week IF we keep winning.

It’s still June today.

Yep and start winning big.

Great day up here and the ground should be fast by start time. Reckon we have a big chance here. Bring the pressure, win contested ball and the clearances and win it will be. Lions played circle work last week as Saints put no pressure on and a couple of weeks ago Lions were ordinary against Blues. Go Dees.

We are right on the edge, big time. But i expect to see the Club fight hard, i went to all those games in 1987.

The scenario could happen again.

A win on the road can galvanise belief.

I think we will do well today...

Today we will be reminded that we’re a mediocre football team.

8 goal whacking coming our way.

Im predicting a win for the second week in a row.

Not at all confident, but there you go.

I hope you have TV coverage in The Azores @Skuit. I will be listening on internet radio from Thailand*

*Not a brag at all coz if i was home i could actually watch the game. At least the food is good here.

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
