That's exactly what I just said to @Whispering_Jack.

Players always seem to either come back for our games, find lost form, get injured the week after or get dropped for "mysterious" reasons after playing a blinder against us.

A bet under $50

Why would you bother?? He is on a serious contract.

Fool

Heath Shaw was fined $20,000 and suspended for 8 matches in 2011 for betting $10 on Nick Maxwell kicking the first goal knowing he would be playing in the forward line.

Very good rjay. What always astounds me is why do they bet themselves. Why not get a mate to do it. However just reminds me that majority of footballers are not rocket scientists.

I rather fondly remember Trav Johnstone putting a bet on at at TAB hours before I was about to watch him playing. I figured he thought he was in for a good game and backed us.

I rather liked Pies defender Jack Crisp's "the dog ate my homework" excuse in 2017 when he was caught putting $129 on multi - "he "forgot" players weren't allowed to bet on football". He was only fined $5000 for that.

Jump onto the AFL’s official betting partner’s website, Sportsbet, you can bet on how many games he’ll be suspended for.

Betting on your captain is far more serious than betting on some other random game.  Both break the rules but the first falls into the 'insider knowledge' category and should be dealt with more harshly.

You could run a book on the AFL having this up their sleeve for when they needed to bluff their way out of a situation like the crowd beef.

Was thinking the same thing.

Wonder if Eddie's head pop off when he found out?

His kicking for goal was pretty suss against us, ban him for a season.

First thing that came to mind when i the story broke on SEN. i reckon he had himself down for a certain amount of goals for the game.

Greedy so and so.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
