Hogan has been very, very average this year. Apart  from this last week, of course. Just in time for his game against us...

Turn Tom Mac out for three weeks, send him North to dabble his toes in the Gold Coast surf and bring in Pruess.

For gods sakes Goodwin we need to see what he can offer.

Try to turn Stretch into a tagger. He is fit and can run well and his body, although not super strong, is just about fully mature. Otherwise he is lost to us. We need to make better players with the players we have got.

Send Jack Viney with Tom Mac North for some rest and toe time in the gold coast waters, he's giving us nothing and the whole team balance is out with Jack and Jones in the same team.

Send Spargo back to the VFL for the rest of the year and play him in the guts to try and toughen him up otherwise he is just going to become the whipping boy of Demonland which is really unfair for a young kid in his second year (some of you ought to be ashamed).

Bring in JKH for a good 3 weeks and then lets see what we've got. I think he could be okay. Lockhart as well.

Stop playing Fritsch back. He is a half forward flanker. Play him there Goodwin and be done with it, your ruining him.

Yes yes yes yes and yes is that enough?? You forgot about Jeffy?? Could have and should have kicked 4 last week!

Hogan is a Rolls Royce, the only one we had for a long time. Also one of the few players who have left us I would love to see succeed.

I watched some of the Freo game yesterday. For three quarters (or the bits that I saw) they couldn't hit a target by hand or foot. It was laughable (yet sadly familiar). They put it together in the last quarter and played very well. Hogan was same old with the body language. I'd never noticed before, but he was useless at 'playing on at all costs.' Stopped every time he marked the pill, with or without options and Freo kept losing the run of play. According to the commentators, he had a very good game, which is entirely possible, as I didn't see the whole thing but he looked to be still finding his feet.

I wish him all the best but would be happy if he stinks this weekend.

Yup, agreed.    He had a slow start to the season but was great last week.

I love his game,  and wish we still had him.  Hopefully he comes back in a couple of years  (a man can dream).

Not at all. If you believe we are in better shape than we were with Hogan, then you are the one deluded. This was not a got you moment. Where the marks were taken and the results from them are relevant. Hogan has been way more productive.

Hard to imagine dropping jeffy, one of our leading goal scorers. On his current scoring output, compared to the teams overall, he cannot be dropped.

‘It’s time to rest tmac though. Pruess must be played.

‘Agree with Fritsch going  to half forward. We are killing his development playing him out of his position for this long.

I have no idea what selections we’ll witness this week.

When was the last time Freo won at the MCG?

2 weeks ago against Collingwood and they rolled us at the G in 2017 after we got out to a 6 goal lead from memory, Cam Mcarthy kicked a late one for them

Red herring in regards to the discussion at hand.

You made specific - and ridiculous  - claims about the number of marks the forwards were taking. You were wrong first time, and doubled down when you were called on it, even when presented with the facts.

Serious confirmation bias BS. Pathetic.

How on earth do the bookies have us as favourites? Bizarre.

Wondering if the punters will jump on Freo as the week goes on. We have won the same amount of games as them at the G this year.

Freo is a strong line up but there is 4 players we need to stop.  Fyfe Mundy Walters Hogan.

I think Walters is the most dangerous with Jetta being out.  Perhaps try Lockhart or Hibberd on him.  Walters is a very good mark for a small forward.

ins Lockhart TSmith

outs jWagner Spargo

Hannan stays in ahead of ANB

TMCD given his 5th last chance!! Hopefully the Bye has refreshed him.

I was going to reply to his above post but couldn't be bothered he obviously can't remember what he posts so I didn't want to embarrass the poor soul.

I am not embarrassed by the poor judgment of others. The fact is our recruiting has been a failure and no amount of nitpicking will change that. Do you have a point to make?

One might think that for the FD, this normal expectation is too much to ask. For the fans, members and supporters, it seems, in reality, to have been totally overlooked.

A little creativity and we can rest TMac against Fremantle Dockers, so that at least his recovery (from whatever ails him) and performance readiness are addressed.

Can't believe we are favourites.

In saying that, we are definitely a chance. Harmes to hard tag Fyfe, Hibberd on Walters. Gawn should be able to massacre Darcy, despite how well he played last week against Ryder and Lycett.

No, they'll bring him in for the last game of the year and he'll no doubt kick 6 just to make a mockery of our  match committee,

IN - Lockhart, T Smith

OUT - Wagner, Garlett or Spargo.

T Mac one last last chance. If the bye hasn't freshened him up physically and mentally he may have to have an indefinite spell in the 2's.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
