It also doesn't show that Cale realised we had won possession of the ball, ran forward to make position, received the pass and kicked it to one of our forwards who duly converted for goal.   Not saying Cale was a tough man, but this clip misrepresents what actually happened in that piece of play.

Stop it, you are ruining a good joke

The only way you’d contemplate taking Gibbs is if it was a salary dump for Adelaide that say netted us something of real value

We get: Bryce Gibbs, Crows’ 2020 first round pick, Crows’ 2019 second round pick...which is actually Carlton’s (so at this stage pick 20)
We lose: Stretch, 2020 third round pick

Only then would you contemplate taking on his rumoured salary and...issues

Karma for bending us over for Lever. I hope he rots in the sanfl while he eats into their salary cap for the next two seasons.

They did not bend us over, over lever we bent over and said insert it here.

Lever for pick 10 and 19 which went to a couple of still unheard of players. That will be a steal in the years to come. No doubt about it. Lever is elite.

This is so true, picks are almost always rated higher than the player that ends up getting picked. Very few first round players end up with more trade value than the pick they were taken.

Which is exactly why Hogan was worth 2x first round picks....

How? With only one suitor he was worth what they were prepared to pay. If they waited a year he would have been worth nothing.

why would we contemplate adding players that aren't fast? we're so bloody slow that we need probably another 4 players with elite speed to be competitive. Ed langdon would be 1 so we need 3 more.

Let’s see how that pans out for Tim Kelly at Geelong...

Only later 1st picks he would have been worth 10&18 or something like that, similar to Lever but top 6 is more often just the 1 first round pick. But given we had no intention of using that pick on the draft the club was happy to take the minor unders for Hogan to get May in the door.

Anyone who thinks Hogan was worth pick 6 and another first round pick is kidding themselves hes not that good. At best we could have negotiated for a mid/late second round pick

Makes The Bee Gees look tough.

Maurice - More than a passing resemblance to Warwick Capper (tight shorts assisting the high octave, plus the hair)

The boys would have been a good fit this year.....”Tragedy.............”

I have always liked Gibbs especially when he was at the Blues & cant see why he still can't have an impact at another AFL club. Its obvious that Pike doesn't rate him & I know there has been some other issues that have been mentioned that may be effecting his performance, however, he should get the hell out of there.

With Goodies choccy box already full, I don't see a spot for him at the Dees, although he could always slot him in at HF, HB or the wing......like Lewis & Jones

gibbs doesn't run defensively...at all

makes gus brayshaw look defensively proactive

he doesn't get to repeat contests and he looks completely washed

is on big, big money if reports are true (got $1.4-1.6m owed to him over the next two seasons) and no one will want to take that sort of contract on

Gibbs is still is high quality player (ask Clayton Oliver about the third quarter the other week) but he has clearly dropped off in form from the sustained excellence of most of his career.

Has always been short of the star expectations people have about No.1 picks, much like Murphy and Kruezer. Has always been picked out as looking a bit gentle on the field, despite pulling his weight for things like tackles, contested posessions, and all that.

Bizarrely, it looks like even though Adelaide would probably now be regretting giving up two first round picks to get him, Carlton at the same time would be unhappy with what they ended up with, although that has more to do with the way they used their picks.

I once had the pleasure of sitting opposite Gibbs at a cafe, without actually realising it was him. It was right before the trade, and the public talk was that the move was for family reasons. Coincidentally, it was the really delightful way this unknown man was having lunch with his toddler (a freak'n angel kid in appearance and behaviour) that made me look up and smile, long before I realised it was anyone significant.

Moral of this story, Gibbs moved to Adelaide for family reasons, and his family is doing fine over there, and we don't even have to think about whether we want him or not because it isn't going to happen. He even has another kid on the way.

We can all just sit back and wish the best to a nice guy who is doing fine. Nothing to trouble ourselves about here.

Except if he wants footy fulfilment??? He aint gonna get it at Adelaide!

I'm a Tad interested based on his skill set. As I said in other post I reckon he is soft, But having said that he would be an upgrade on quite a few we currently have on the list!

And what, he’s going to get that at Melbourne?

Im wondering what May is actually thinking. He left a rabble thinking he was joining a premiership bound team. He must be kicking himself.

Except he understands the impact of injuries and knows that it wont be an annual occurance I would suggest....

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
