Pardon my ignorance, but is Petracca often named at full-forward?

Take that with a grain of salt. Probably the only player who’s name would be a lock in their listed position would be Max Gawn in the ruck. The rest really are just fwd, mid, def or interchange.

Hence the inclusion of Petty

Have you actually got the right player ???

Oskar is not big bodied (82kg) and he's definitely not a mid.

He is a pacy outside player & maybe a crumbing forward.

He is 6'1" and plays on the wing mostly

far out, lazy 'journalism' again.

history rarely lies when you find one stat to suit your argument.  so if we lose against WC as nearly all teams do, thats why we miss finals?  we'll miss finals coz we were 1-5 you twit.

Great work

except I think it’s fortunate we’ll be onto our 9th PM!!

It's a bit like watching Collingwood and Carlton, you are thrilled that one has to lose but unfortunately one has to win for that to happen

out of interest why do you think that?

Petty's game last week was on the better side of okay and they certainly aren't like for like.

Partly what Yeater is saying here DJ ?? Marking power & ball retention inside 50.   We are the worst at it in 2019.  And we arent always going to see a flat dirty ball coming in.  As Yeater says there's gonna be some bombing...can't change old habits completely in 5 days.   Petty won't help us here.

3 hours ago, Graeme Yeats' Mullet said:

I get the dirty ball logic, but there is something to be said for putting Andre the Giant in the goalsquare given our penchant for high bombs and might hold McGovern deep too and limit his impact

A few other reasons....

- Insurance against Maxy needing back up and relief.  His around ground game outside of center bounces last week was as low (output wise) as I've seen in a long time (probably since we last played Coasters in the prelim). The FD would also have seen that.  Petty does not offer that.

- Pruess up forward offers us versatility / flexibility elsewhere with others that Petty does not.  T-mac can go back if needed (injury to Omac or Frosty....or another abominable display early from both...like we saw in the prelim).

- Pruess has runs on the board at AFL level and i presently rank him well within our best 22.  Petty at this point is too big a risk with so much on the line (if we were sitting pretty at 5-3 maybe but even then...not against the reigning premiers).

Overall, unless match ups/conditions absolutely scream "Petty" all the way... Pruess is a lock (vs Petty).

BS. We won't be frightened at all, that is just rubbish. Lack of belief, probably, but not fright.

We know we have a severely depleted side and the footy world gives us no chance, so what is there to lose?

Give it your best, apply absolute and constant pressure  to the opposition and see what happens.

He is big bodied.   I never said he was an inside mid. Dont care what the listed weight is (most of them are not even close anyway).   And he is 100% a midfielder.

If this isnt big bodied what is?  Hes a tank.

Is it wet?

I thought it was just going to be cold... ?

I don't know if this helps or hinders us...

Not wet but likely to be very dewy, particularly in the second half.

Overnight temp predicted to go down to 3 degrees.

5-7 after Round 12 is still Finals possible.

This is the type of game Clarkson's and Malthouses and Matthews would win.

The logical conclusion of this ridiculous assertion is that a capable, experienced coach could take Koo Wee Rup seconds to an AFL premiership.

You can only work with what you have.

Let's just see how many disposals, marks and 1%ers Petty gets vs OMac - not to mention, how many marks & goals their opponents get.

I re-watched the first half “highlights” of the PF. There’s no way that’s going to happen again. The amount of shocking turn-overs in the middle of the ground streaming forward was like a once in a blue moon sort of perfect storm scenario. Also Lewis single handedly contributed to three of their goals in the back half with some of the worst lazy, loopy handballs you’ll ever see. Luckily he’s not out there tonight.

We might lose, but it won’t be a horror show like that.

Agree. We are a massive chance. I reckon we might go one better than last week and kick a goal after the siren to win.

Who blinks first?

IN: T. Hickey

or

IN: B. Preuss

Given our lack of a big player to sit near the goals and at least create fear in the minds of defenders, I kinda hope we blink first.  But then, I have no idea how that would affect the rest of the team balance, especially if WCE doesn't make a change.

Call me an Old Fart if you like, but I reckon he looks SOOO much better with that respectable haircut!  He really looked like a Ninja with that mop he used to have!  From an unkempt kid, he now looks like a man!  Besides, he'll now be more streamlined, so no excuses for a great debut!  LOL

All week I've been reliving the torture that was spending 900 bucks to watch us be destroyed very very far away from home with glory and wonder on the line just a few months ago. And then I remember what this year has delivered and how far our expectations have fallen since then.

And then I think to myself…this game is such a free hit. Take it dees, and make the pain go away. Come alive again.

There's a horror movie right there on my tv...

Still hope Oskar Baker is comfortable at the level cause we are desperate for speed and run.

You’re an old fart - but so am I.

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
