POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn

Featured Replies

So my takeaway is that Goodwin still has his mojo, our assistant coaches are on the ball, Misson knows exactly what he's doing, and Pert is at the top of his game.

Eat [censored] Hawthorn!  Nothing better than beating those arrogant scumbags.

We are back baby!

We played with rhythm today for the first time all year!

What a game from Harmes!

Gave away 2 goals but did a great job on O'Meara, by all reports

Nerves are absolutely shredded. Season remains alive. Just.

Take a bow James Harmes. Best game for the club.

god I love this club! they can depress the hell out of me but then today happens and I'm in love again!!

Beating Hawthorn is enjoyable.

Beating Hawthorn with Scully in a Hawks jumper is beyond enjoyable!

Miracles DO happen!   The defribulator worked!  (Tracc out of HF through the middle and Salem to the wing!!)

Drown more players..

Thank god for Frost.

He has had a lot of detractors but he stood up and saved our bacon.

Great to see the win, it was a grind but still a win. Honestly though, a 5% in improvement in disposal and I might not have had a heart attack.

Say what you want about Frosty, but he has heart - and he saved our bacon a few times in that final qtr. Really backed himself in.

Harmes had a ripper! More of that, please!

Welcome back, Hibbo! Much better!

Great to see TMac getting involved, he had some nice moments, hopefully he uses that to work himself back into form.

Love what I'm seeing from Lockhart! The kid has guts and backs himself, does interesting things. That diving mark was FANTASTIC.

Salem, awesome, smart, balanced stuff out on the wing. Even ANB did some nice things here and there. A lot of second efforts, and that's not something we can say has happened much this year.

In all, not always pretty, but there was some fire. Some ticker. Ferocity.

Also, please no more OMac!

First half was awful, but second half was much much better. So pumped they held there nerve.

I had to turn the radio off!!

too much for my old ticker

we live on...

sweet...

Wanna hear something funni.

Eddie spaghetti said the umps were good today.

WTF

What game was he watching.

Dumb arz

Frosty clutch x 2 in that last 3 mins!!  Lockhart what a game son.

The heart of Harmes.... Salem the run, class and finish!

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

After a stunning victory over the Saints in the first round of the Season the Demons head over to Perth to take on the Dockers who choked in their first match against the Cats. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
