Maybe if we swap the forward line with the backline?

Surely they couldn't do any worse!

A very good chance we are going to cop the full wrath of a raging Clarkson and co. who will be looking for revenge for last years semi final.

Pray to the sun gods that we come switched on ready to play.

Good god.. how we continue to put games into a [censored] spud in McDonald is just mind boggling.. Should have given Keilty or Petty a shot.

Our season is finished and we have this useless [censored] coming back into the team..

Riveting selections.

Whilst I agree with giving Keilty n Petty a shot,  and I agree with our season being finished, this is the sort of post that belongs on the troll banner a few weeks ago.

I like many of your posts dazzle but this is poor form mate .

What kids?

None of them bar Sparrow have done a thing to warrant selection.

I would have persisted with Weideman, but it's easy to understand the logic.

Win and no-one will be complaining.

That's optimistic.

Not the win, but the hope that no one on here will be complaining.

Disagree. Dazzles post is spot on and echoes the thoughts of myself and many other frustrated demons supporters. The selection, particularly the spud McDonald after only one reserves game, is appalling.

Backline is slow as treacle!

Then Hore rotates in for Hunt, even slower!

or Wagner comes in next to Frost, fast decision making .........oh noooo!

I’ll be at the game, but don’t think I can watch, it’s going to be a massacre! Like a few GoT episodes!

Mind boggling changes

Weed will get awful delivery as a forward at vfl level; he might as well get awful delivery at afl level when opposed to better defenders

O Mac goes back and allows T Mac to return forward...but Josh Wagner replacing Viney helps the midfield rotations how, exactly?!??

Yep. Scheizen selections.

Where's Keilty? His form has been consistent over the this season and last. He's not a 17 year old kid. Why not give him a crack?

I don't understand how Oscar has earnt his spot back.

Travelling down from northern NSW for this. My last three trips down south have been to watch us lose.

Fun times.

Go Dees.....

Yeah but if he was playing for us right now John, he would be a spud. Just ask any Geelong supporter. Downhill skier of the highest order.

My eyes tell me, from the games I’ve seen him play in the black and white that the last thing I’d call him is a downhill skier.

Injury prone, but a gun and a brute.

I wonder how Clarke photography is coming along.

It’s not like we have a strong list of players who could have come in. Bar a player debuting, it was always going to be ‘meh’.

in hindsight, the club completely overrated the list and got rid of some decent depth. I would have much preferred the inclusions of Bugg, Tyson or Kent.

FD might be looking at...

> Wags replaces Fritschkrieg which solidifies backline a little (albeit  agree with others...still terribly slooow)

> an out of form Fritschkrieg (playing out of his usual position) goes forward once more to replace an out of form Tracc.

> Tracc into a mostly mId field role (some time at HF also) and replaces / covers for an injured Viney.  Hopefully to get hands on pill a bit more & bringing a little more dynamic agility/break away power into the mid field.  (Viney also a fair way off for whatever reason/s).

Tracc has to step up big time in the above role if we are to have any chance of pulling off a huge upset.  Overdue break out game required.

Would have rathered the club could have kept Kent, but I don't know we had a huge choice there.

Bugg didn't have the desire in the end and threw away a golden opportunity to keep playing AFL footy.

I certainly wasn't a Tyson hater, but I'm pretty happy with the return so far and future potential of big Pruess - has wepon written all over him.

I'm punting hope against recient form here, but I really would love to beat this bunch of a-holes.  If we only beat one other team all year, this is the team I want it to be.

Words really can't quite describe how much I hate Hawthorn.

At the same time, it must be speculated that the selected team/positions will not be the starting line-up, or will be the same at the end of the first quarter when the MFC is 10 goals behind. Absolute madness but perhaps a blind (certainly not threatening) for the Whoreform hierarchy.

I class Keilty as a kid,  Sparrow,  Lockhart as well.  o'Baker...  and Spargo again, in a few weeks time.

Play them, so we can see if they've got something to show...  and where they are up to.

We tanking bad.

People keep saying J Wagner is slow... if you watch the clip above of Oscar, Lewie and Wagner chasing O'Meara to the goal line you will notice that Wagner is the one who makes up considerable ground on O'Meara, leaving the others behind. Doesn't seem all that slow to me!

No thanks DV.  Leave them to learn their craft at the lower levels unless they're doing something like an Alan Jakovich pls.  Seen enough insiped performances from youngsters making their debut too early at the MFC or being gifted too many successive games with little return/output to justify their continued  inclusion.  Watts the classic one that comes to mind and more recently the Weid / Omac.  Give them an occasional taste to show them the level that's needed when the teams flying then straight  back to Casey to learn and improve once more (unless they're killing it)? Sure.

The great clubs like the Dawks usually leave their juniors for a good year or two before deciding to debut them or move them on and by that stage they've at least grown (or partially grown) a man's body and some experience on how Clarkson expects them to play.  And the exceptions would no doubt be coming into a side that's flying and surrounded by  a good smattering of solid players and a few champs that can easily cover any shortcomings should they occur on the day.

Apart from Goody's failed game style at the G and poor match day performances what this season has show us has been the exposed lack of depth / quality on the list once a few injuries kick in.

That can't be fixed overnight and a head or two may need to roll before it starts to improve.  We are probably years away from becoming a force to be reckoned with but part of becoming a better club is not making the same mistakes we've made so often in the past.

Unusual changes.. but yet again Goodwin has not made a great deal of sense this year..

Only way this can work is if T-Mac goes forward, Fritch to the wing and Salem to Wing/HFF and Hunt and Wagner to go back. Would love to have another Salem. Everyone gives him wraps for his immaculate foot skills but he is a seriously underrated defender these days.

Despite our wholly underwhelming start to the season, I’m really looking forward to this game.

It feels like a Saturday afternoon final, which it essentially is for us.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
