Smart selections: O Mac allows Tom (our best KPF) to go forward, as does J Wagner for Fritsch.

Good call bing. Friiter has to go forward and plat high half forard. We need him kicking inside 50 and kicking a couple himself. Has struggled down back and forward his best postion IMO. And yes TMAc back up forward.

I hope the 10 days has meant T'Mac's foot is all good and he finds something close to his best. We need him up and about.

A back line with Lewis, Hibberd, and Oscar is not quick enough to play a zone let alone be accountable 1 on 1 defenders. All they will see is the ball going over their heads for scores.

Good to see the selection committee have made a statement dropping an underperforming senior player...oh wait they dropped a kid and let senior blokes continue to coast and set the poor standard!

This club is weak. Nothing changes.

Crap inclusions imo.

Will be a crap result too.

Awesome weekend coming up!!!

Putting Oscar in with ANB in the team leaves us a man short. They only have half a football brain each.

how is this an opportunity? an opportunity to come 13th instead of 14th? the season is gone. it was gone 3 weeks ago.

play kids and send all injured players away for surgery and dont show me goodwin's face again dribbling out the same cr@p about getting better. I dont want to get better unless it means making finals, otherwise I'd prefer to perform worse and get good picks and illicit more personnel changes

It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again

For those who think the dees will get smashed you might want to consider having a punt on the hawks if you are so inclined.

They are only 1.72 to win and only have 4.5 point start. That is pretty even. And to be honest the betting markets about the most objective measure of a teams chances of success. Plenty of people obviously think the dees are in with a good chance of winning this game. I'm one

Oscar in is a joke.

It’s not like we have a strong list of players who could have come in. Bar a player debuting, it was always going to be ‘meh’.

in hindsight, the club completely overrated the list and got rid of some decent depth. I would have much preferred the inclusions of Bugg, Tyson or Kent.

Oscar’s return was inevitable and seems to point towards TMac going forward again.  Surprised by Wagner over Sparrow.

No point getting all worked up about whether they are good selections or not- we won’t know until 4:30 Saturday.

I would rather lose blooding a couple of recruits with mobility than guarantee a loss with the slowest backline in the league. The only chance we have is if the ball never goes into their forward line. Richmond had one of their worst teams in for the year against us too.

Not so much. Anything to help get Fritsch back up the ground where he belongs is a step in the right direction IMV. Also, Fritsch forward frees up Petracca to do some of the on-ball heavy lifting.

Of course, best laid plans ...

We will be benefit more with him off a wing but I'll take the next best option anyday vs playing him in the backline where he is completely lost.  Fingers crossed Goody is thinking same Bing.

P.S. Tom is our only KPF.

Christ the FD doesn't have a bloody clue. OMAC and Wagner in, FMD.

Should've given Keilty a run along with Sparrow. Both have way more upside than the dud inclusions. Another huge tick to Goody and his selection panel ?

Agree, now is the time to do it but with a balanced selection policy. Sparrow should come in and I’d like to see Kielty get a game to see what he can do. I know Tim Smith was ok last week but he is not young and therefore, not the future. Kielty should have been picked ahead of him in my opinion. Not sure Garlett deserves another game. Despite the fact he can produce goals he was very poor last week

Easily our team's worst game for the year.  With a few exceptions they were all pretty poor.   Ideally he needs about three matches under the feet of Pruess once he returns.  If he shows little in that role then it might be time to pull up stumps.

I can't see much point in 'revolving doors' selections, but we can't ignore the fact that the cupboad is very bare right now. A 'wing and a prayer' is about all we have!

Lewis and Jones in the same side again , [censored] we are going to get killed.

I know there have been exceptions, but Goodwin usually gives a player two games after a promotion from the VFL before dropping them again. I agree that Garlett wasn't that good last week, but perhaps a second outing will see an improved output. (I also think that if he's having a quiet day, the coach should have him as part of the four in the centre at a ball up a couple of times. It helps him get involved.)

Goody started him in the middle last week LD but IMHO switched him back to his usual spot way too early.  Gave him no chance to settle into the role and impact or get his hands on the ball a little prior to being switched forward.

I am so very unenthused about the changes ?

Thought an out-of-form Weid was better than what OMac was producing. Prove me wrong Oscar.

What the hell does Keilty have to do to get a game? Was looking forward to seeing him play.

"Play the kids" like we've had 3 first rounds the past 3 years too pluck from the list ?

Play the kids...  because we will soon run out of games, which we can play them in.   With so many coming back in around 3 weeks time.

grasshopper... patience.

I fear another out,  in dee-tea-leaves.

Fritsch needs to move onto the wing or forward this week and try to have some sort of impact. His form down back has been poor this year and he currently doesn’t warrant a place in our best 22 on output.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
