Am I alone in being amazed that nothing has been made of Martin’s dangerous throw of Hibberd to the ground and subsequent elbow to the head, not once but twice when Hibberd was lying dazed on the ground?

Don't recall seeing it Joeboy, does anyone have footage/gif?

He does it every week. Did the same thing to Harmes in the JLT. Should have been a free kick but that's it.

I didn't see footage as I only had radio to work from, but the commentators there expressed a moment of 'ooof that looks nasty' about the throw, followed by a fair bit of chatter about the 'bad look' and 'leader shouldn't be doing that' of the repeated shoving and elbow.

So, something happened and it raised some eyebrows, but that's all I can add.

Yep saw it and it was play on. The useless and pathetic excuse for commentators hardly even mentioned it. Ump didn’t even pay a free unlike the one they picked out against us in our f50

If it were melb doing it it would be front page news, commentators would not stop talking about it and the umps would report the player, award the free kick and a 50m penalty.

It wasn’t just a dangerous tackle but an elbow to the head while he was lying on the ground. Speaks volumes for the players character.

I'll be interested to see if anything happens to Riewoldt and his 'chicken wing' on Fritsch.

He got a $1000 fine

Didn’t he just get a fine and that’s it?

He sure did.  Completely missed it.  Cheers!

Illegal or not, until the Melbourne Football Club chooses to stand up to the “play ground bullies” on field, we will continue to be pushed around and be considered irrelevant. It’s up to the players to fly the flag and show the opposition we won’t be pushed around.

We bullied and bashed Geelong and Hawthorn in the finals last year and earned respect.

This year we haven’t even let out a whimper.

When Max was picked on it was frustrating his comrades didnt fly the flag for him.

Same applies to last night more s o on a night about courage and mateship.

We have been soft this year and I fear other clubs are noticing.

We've always been poor, and it isn't only flying the flag. We rarely Sheppard or block for our own players

Yep our 1 tough guy gets totally flattened and forced to leave the field by a guy in his 4th game and not one player went and gave anything back.

NO ONE STOOD UP TO DUSTIN MARTIN.

If he did that cheap shot when I was playing even in the amateurs div 2, someone would have flattened him. Or at least wrestled. Soft Demons again.

If Hibberd threw Dusty to the ground and gave a couple of sly elbows we’d all be cheering.

It sucks losing.

Carry on.

Clear sling tackle. No concussion = no penalty.

Clear facial treatment. No free kick, no retaliation. Just weak.

How they didn't fly the flag when Stretch was cleaned up was beyond me.

Maybe they were all worried after Razor Ray told them all off last week.

Pssweak letting that fkwit dictate things

Something srsly amiss

Gawn set up Viney with that hospital handball, owes his captain big time. Some of the panic ball last night was just downright madness and most of the time it was due to us playing on when we didn't have to. Talk about playing to your opponents strengths. We need AVB back asap, he's the only one that can intimidate the opposition.

Round 1 our players showed how seriously they took the team and the game - and all down hill since.

I tweeted it at the time. Sly elbow to the head. But it's Dusty, so it will get a pass.

Word I get is that things down at the club among some players are not all hunky dory.
Some jealousy over who gets paid what.
Lost the closeness they had last season which might explain the lack of support for each other.
That's what I hear.

How very us to self destruct.

Interesting......but a lot signed contracts last year, so you wouldnt think they would suddenly change their collective thinking.....

If true, what an absolute disgrace and so typical Melbourne.

I work with people who do exactly the same job and earn more because they have been there longer than me. I still go to work, do my job to the best of my ability and don’t walk around with a “woe is me attitude”.

Simple solution, prove your worth on the field and have your Manager negotiate a better deal accordingly! These guys earn a fortune even at entry level in comparison to the average wage. As I said, if true....What a [censored] disgrace!

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
