It is starting to look like our real problem is that we still struggle to compete against the top teams, same as last year. Just unfortunate we started the season against three of the major rivals for top 4?

Having said that, I'd still prefer Essendon to fall in a hideous heap.

Port playing with the audacity we were late last year.  Eagle look way off, not sure if its a just an off night, the rain or Port pressure.  But the most entertaining game to watch this round so far.

The rain is West Cokes Kryptonite.

No team can go into any game now,  after dreaming of they're own bathwater,  early in the week.

Bathwater is toxic to winning for any team,  these days.

Port are such a Jekyll and Hyde team. Couldn't beat a Richmond side without the majority of their A-graders last week at home, then back that up on a short break by being the first side to beat West Coast with Darling and Kennedy in the side in nearly two years.

The wet didn't help West Coast but Port showed that when you bring A-grade pressure in your front half, even the most composed sides will struggle to get the ball past the halfway mark. What Port did is exactly what we're trying to do, and what we did well at our best in 2018.

Port were “on” from the first bounce and did not let go.

It was a very impressive performance, and one i suggest Goodwin look at closely

Betting is almost impossible at the moment. I understand rounds 1-3 you shouldn’t bet but the trend continues.

Hogan playing okay against GWS.... Freo not looking like easy beats

He always plays well when we play St Kilda.

Beat me to it.  He and Taberner had big games.  Walters had five score involvements in the last Quarter too.

Whenever I watch a gws game it has the feel of a preseason game due to the grounds they at in. Canberra and Sydney

though also when we play in the NT

Watching Richmond v Swans.

Swans are so bad. It's like watching the Dees in different jumpers.

Perhaps we could merge, the Melbourne Swans ?    Or perhaps we could be the Sydney Demons, or better yet maybe alternate.  good-team,  bad-team...  weak in, weak out... of town.

Then we could have buddy,  and Nate could play with brother, and Vanders could be closer to home.

Simple one week we wear dark blue on our jumper,  the other week we wear white.   We already wear white for away games now.

simples.

Carlton versus  Footscray, Game umpired to Carlton to win. Blatant free kicks paid to Carlton to win. Never seen anything like it. Not even half time yet. Sad that the AFL have appointed people who are manipulating umpires and our game to achieve desired results.

Half way thru the 3rd and Carlton haf a 5 goal lead and heading for their first win.

If it ends like this they will be 14th on the ladder. ?

Such an even season, and we have completely blown it.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
