Former captain Nathan Jones could come under selection pressure, along with new recruit Kade Kolodjashnij and Alex Neal-Bullen.

Poor by Jay Clark. Experienced journo and cant even get the basics right.

I don’t read that poor substitute for toilet paper but I would be rapt if it is true. And a telling Freudian slip by Clark.

I would think those 3 are in danger of being dropped. Couldn't get past the paywall, apart from the 'former captain' bit, what else was in it?

All well and good. But it's not all the players fault. No no no no NO !!

I thought KK showed a bit in the last qtr. Worth persisting with.

ANB on the other hand- has to be dropped for that weak marking attempt when the heat was on in the 3rd qtr. That and he’s been pathetic for the first 3 games, plus the 3 pre season games.

I agree- dropping KK is premature.

Early he looked off the pace and rushed a few kicks when he had time.  He’s played very little footy at all for the last couple of years and needs to clock up some minutes in the seniors to get his judgement tuned in.

Oscar MacDonald has had a few poor/soft  moments in the last 3 games Friday was his worst, Forst just does dumb things which like Oscar are one massive part of the problem. ANB must be dropped too many butter fingers fumbles moments

yeah I feel ANB is one of the main offenders of getting sucked into the contest when he doesn't have to, and not effecting the outcome anyway. his hands are no good, especially in close, so what's the point of him doing it. he should go back to Casey and spend some time on ball sharpening up his ball skills and try to get some confidence back.

Sadly, I suspect that dropping any of the aforementioned players is not going to benefit anyone. It is what it is or they are what they are.  Perhaps KK needs more games under his belt so perhaps he could do that at Casey. Unfortunately we have no one from Casey that is going to set the world on fire, and they are more likely than not to struggle.

We have to wait and be patient. For what, for how long, who knows. This is looking like a long-term job just like the shock you get when that little reno on the house turns out to be a major rebuild because you discover the foundations, floors and walls have termites.  .

We need a circuit breaker of some kind. I doubt something as basic as an “honesty session” is the answer, but it can’t hurt.

Honestly session this early is ominous. If it works it could get the train back on the rails, but if it's doesn't where do they go from here?

I'm hoping that whatever is discussed works, because if it's doesn't I wouldn't be surprised to read the paper next round that the demons are having "boxing sessions" to work out inner frustrations within the playing group.

Dees want an honesty session.

How about the FD admitting their game plan is [censored] , unplayable and they're sorry.

Never happen.

The only difference being the termites didn't just turn up uninvited....they were picked ;)

The FD doesn't owe you or any members an apology over a game plan that isn't working. It's football, sometimes people get it wrong and sometimes they get it right. The entitled attitude of some here is excruciating at times.

Not trying to attack you here mate as I often enjoy your posts, but lets get real - the FD is under no obligation to apologize to you every time something goes wrong. They are not your therapists.

not to me...to the players Smokey.. They have provided the players with something that approaches an impossibility.

But actually in a fashion the FD, the Club, is beholden towards its members to provide something that is competitive and works

My concern is that players will become disillusioned and somewhat pessimistic, if only quietly to themselves if they deem they have been given a stinking fish.

Football is about confidence as much as anything. I have NO confidence in this style of play.  I wonder how many players do ??

So what I read into this is that the group have self identified that they have not performed in a way that can deliver the game-plan.  Indeed, it sounds like they buy into the game-plan, but are owning the fact that what they have done is not good enough.

Identifying this is a very important first step, and now the proof is in the pudding.  Do we see acts that are 'up to standard', do we see consistency, or do we see 'cruising'?

As the second youngest side in round 1, and with the leaders well down across the first 3 rounds, the team has not been led by example. Or not consistently enough.

This is not a crisis moment, but hopefully a reset.  Whatever 22 go on the park should do everything they can to meet the 'honest' expectation - What is required as a set of non-negotiables.  I think the next step is 'no favourites' and drop those who don't live up to this, regardless of their stature of favoritism.  If the club still believes in our game plan, and the players are 'bought in', then time to see if it works when delivered for the whole game.

If not, then we have to ask some serious questions about the plan...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
