What a poor interview from both participants.Β

Bring back the Burgatron.Β

Preuss comes across as eitherΒ

- quirky and (at least trying to be) witty, or;

- thick as a brick.

Time will tell.

Regardless if he does the job of complementing Max as relief ruck, orΒ Β hopefully as a tandem a la Jimmy and Strawbs then we should be pretty happy with the trade.Β

he was cute.

His readily laughing at himself may indicate less ego hangups. Β He also seems to be enjoying this opportunity and really into it working hard to do his best.

Great combination.Β

Also comes across as humble, a resident of that great footballing learning curve, anticipatory for improvement and learning about the game more deeply, and ready to give it his best after an inglorious baptism with North. Indicators so far are very much within the trend of considerable improvements to his game on the eve of the start of this season, his potential contributions and his support for the MFC and its team. I like the boy!

Β

I think he comes across as quirky yet likeable. I can't wait to see more of him on the field. It's refreshing to have personalities at the club.Β

Well, he lives at Nar Nar Goon.

Does that make him a baNaNa Goon??

Β

Sounds like a bit of a [censored] to be honest. That said, I don't care what he is like offield, as long as he has the drive to get the best out of himself, that's all that matters.

This Pruess fella must play for another team. You wouldntΒ think fans from theΒ team he plays for would be bagging him on a public forum. That would be a bit, umm, low wouldn’t it? But not us Melbourne supporters. We’re better than that!

I love Preussy already and I've only seen a couple of highlights from the practice match and some training photos. I'm looking forward to watching him play tomorrow without Gawn to see what he can do as the No. 1 ruck.Β

If I can get my hands on an away guernsey at the family day this year I'll be getting Preuss' number on the back.Β

Pure honesty is the best display.

The donald doesn't chew gum during interviews, and that is a moron.

The lessΒ  'Politically Correct'Β  we can be,Β  the better.Β Β  No airs & graces,Β  or PC's,Β  please.

I hope his family and property are safe. The irony that this segment - Quick Fire PreussyΒ  - was aired just as the bushfires began to ravage the Bunyip area. I hope everybody stays safe.

Noticed the tastelessness of that headline, Dieter. Even here in Adelaide, we had half-hourly radio bulletins of the worsening Nar Nar Goon bushfire circumstances ... and Bunyip ... and I thought back to my hiking days when younger around that area and how delightfully vegetative and rugged that area really was - with fresh drinking water trickling in the creeks. We must all hope that safety of the locals is achieved, Preussy included.Β

I think it was more a case of unfortunateΒ timing: I'm sure when it was posted Nar Nar Goon wasn't under threat.

Yep, it's a beautiful area. A friend of mine who hails from McLaren Vale lives here now and he took his family for a holiday to the North east. He said what amazed him was being able to swim in rivers where you could see the bottom. He said you don't get that in South Australia...

Behind that facade there is one determined person who means business. However these days the club won't go after someone if theyΒ  think they cannot make the grade and play their role.Β

Preuss is a down to earth person a likeable fellow. He is aΒ  good all round addition.

Seems to be disarmingly modest...with plenty to be modest about.

I think I now understand better why he came to Melbourne. I think it's less about 2019-2021Β but more about learning the caper to eventually take over from Max if he's good enough. He'll be Max's current age when Max is 31. He knows he's not there yet and realises that the best chance to learn the craft is to be with the team that has the best ruckman to see that up close.

I can see the addition of Preuss is also to add some muscle to support Gawn when required. FarΒ too many times Gawn being a pure ball player hadΒ to battle on copping unfair dirty treatment from some opposing ruckman.Β

Yes...Β  and one who can/will throw his weight around.

Hey Rob, any chance you’re in town for the opening round?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.Β

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
