The Swimming Dee 1,907 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Looking at the injury list one of the guys we have really missed imo is Mitch Hannan. Has speed, smarts and can play forward or roll up onto a wing. Wish he was closer to fitness 3 Quote

And I think has better 'vision'. But is also more arrogant, and a sense of 'supreme' about him... This gets him into trouble. Via suspensions... he tests people, including Umps. He is a bit like Rod Grinter, in his belief of self and abilities. Quote

The point is that there was nothing to be gained, and more to lose by putting him back on the ground. As I said, he is now out for up to 12 weeks. You don’t think there is something wrong there??? 1 1 Quote

He could barely jog and looked terrible. The club should've put a line through him then and there. Not good enough from the fitness department to allow him to return and not good enough from the coaching staff by not exercising some caution/conservatism in a meaningless practice match. I know we had other injuries during the game but you ca't jeopardise the home and away season. I thought we were over amateur hour at the MFC. I have never been one to criticize this bloke, but happy to see Dave Misson out at the end if the year. 1 Quote
rjay 25,424 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 All this talk of Smith, you would think he was the 2nd coming of Hudson.... Yes the injury is a concern & I wish him a speedy recovery. ...but he struggled to find a position last season, he's really not the answer. A full list & I don't know where you would play him... By the way, does someone become immune from being included in a bit of light criticism over their coin tossing ability when they lose their legs? Yes. Criticising someone with a disability for their struggles to perform a task able bodied people take for granted is a pretty bloody low. 1 Quote

whatwhat say what 23,854 Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 4-6 is likely you'd think - three to de-load, three to re-load Quote
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 If he came to us unfit, then no doubt that hasn’t helped his groin. So far I give him a 2/10. I really hope he comes good and proves his worth. I think he can be a vital cog for us in defense, but if he can’t get on the field and has poor conditioning at 27, we are in trouble. 2 Quote

I think he'll be OK after some adjustment. He has spent his whole adult career in a looser club mentality. And has flourished as a player despite this. He will learn imo to raise his standards higher with us. just a long as others who are not in best condition are also made to do likewise. Set the standards Melbourne leaders. Jones'y... I'm looking in your elite fitness direction, matey.............. dee-man 'd their best Quote
spirit of norm smith 16,679 Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Cannot believe how unlucky and fragile are both Joel Smith and Vandenburg. They have missed huge parts of the last 2 years. When they play, they add a lot to our team. Vandenburgs strength adds grunt to our forward 50. Joel Smith adds versatility and ability to play forward or back. We need them back and fit. Quote

Hellaintabadplacetobe 4,335 Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 We'd be mad to risk him. With the form he has been in we'd hardly notice him not playing. He's looked slow all year TMac, rest up and get it right 1 Quote

poita 3,944 Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 Now that we've finally added McDonald to the injury list, when most people could tell he was struggling in round 1, when are we going to be honest about Jetta? The guy can barely move at the movement. 1 Quote
Diamond_Jim 12,772 Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 While on the subject of injury there was an interesting article in the Guardian about Mitchell Starc insuring himself against injury and missing the 2018 IPL season in India. Makes you wonder whether it's worth the club insuring the top four or five players against season ending injuries.A good example would have been insuring Lever. Premiums may have made it unattractive but I hope someone at least does the sums. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2019/apr/09/mitchell-starc-sues-insurers-for-15m-over-missed-ipl-season Quote
