Red and Blue realist 2,063 Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Seems well advanced and that there won't be any issues - quoted from AFL.com.au Another Sun on the hunt for a new start is defender Kade Kolodjashnij, and it looks certain that he'll be at Melbourne next season. Kolodjashnij missed the final 10 rounds of 2017 with concussion symptoms after copping a head knock at a training session in mid-June, which forced him to wear a helmet when he returned to the field this season. He missed more games this year because of the problem, before specialists revealed in June that it was a neck issue and not concussion symptoms causing Kolodjashnij's horror run. The 23-year-old played four of the last six games, but Cameron said the club had encouraged the half-back to look around for a new home, when they sat down to debrief the season. "He suffered a bad concussion (in 2017) and he's really battled with that," he said. "He got it together towards the end of last year and played some footy, (but) his confidence took a hit as you can imagine, dealing with that. "We just think that it's a good opportunity for him to explore other avenues to continue his footy. "We've spoken to his management and we've had some preliminary discussions with Melbourne, so I'm pretty confident that we'll do a trade for Kade pretty early next week." 1 Quote

Sounds like the trade deal is agreed. Good to get one done early and concentrate on bigger ones. 5 Quote

Jaded No More 68,976 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Sounds like him and Gus could buddy up. Gus could be a good mentor and give him some advice on the confidence thing. From concussion to 3rd in the Brownlow- the story of the helmeted hero 2 Quote
whatwhat say what 23,895 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Gary Buckenara rates him highly: KADE KOLODJASHNIJ: Kolodjashnij has had injury and health issues over the last few years but he has shown himself to be a really good AFL player when fit. I believe he is a potential A-grader, so Gold Coast would want close to A-grade compensation. A first-round pick or a good experienced player would be an ideal trade. 1 Quote
Ron Burgundy 8,588 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Kade seems to have good pedigree and an interesting journey prior to being drafted at pick 5 by the Suns. https://www.themercury.com.au/sport/afl/stage-set-for-tassie-twins/story-fnj4f7h7-1226762858214 1 Quote

Typical Pooz and Weez that would love to hold us back. Only kicked that goal with the help of a 15M penalty. He should be grateful but instead he's a [censored]. 1 2 Quote
Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 have been told trade for our second round pick is basically locked in. Will be done pretty quickly. The first round pick suggestion is a joke. They’re pushing him out the door, and I’m really not sure why. 2 Quote

I'm not into guessing the value of picks/players but that does look high for someone they are pushing out the door. Usually, it is pick 60+ for these situations. Hope there is a gentleman's agreement attached to the KK deal that says they don't push too hard on a trade for May! Edited October 6, 2018 by Lucifer's Hero 3 Quote

Maybe the dawrks wanted KK and he said no thanks? Oh and that gaol you speak of the siren sounded to end the game, way before the umpire even gifted him a free kick, Quote

It’s a bit like Gus Brayshaw last year, kolo has some exposed quality at AFL level but health and injuries have stalled his career. I believe any pick past 30 is a bit of a punt and 34 for a player with his upside is one I’m comfortable with. 1 Quote

Pates 9,697 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I’m happy for us to give up a second rounder for him, he’s in a better bracket of age for us and with our fantastic management of Nev and Gus I feel he’s come the perfect place to give him confidence past his concussion concerns. He’s a great talent but Buckenara is kidding himself if he expects up to give A grade compensation for a guy they are pushing out the door. 1 Quote

layzie 34,529 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I thought a 2nd rounder was a bit rich but he is extremely talented. A fair bit of footy missed though and he’d have to overcome the mental issue of getting back regularly. If it gets us some brownie points in the May department then I guess you have to back them.
