Bell’s just an idiot.

Finally, some facts in this shitshow of a thread/trade

If I was Freo I'd be doing the following:

Pick 11 & 23 to GWS for Lobb and pick 14

Neale & pick 49 to Brissy for Pick 5, 2019 2nd round & pick 41

Pick 5 & 14 to Melb for Hogan

We can then send 5 & 32 to GC for May and pick 24

The only issue was Lobbe. Freo want Lobb and i dare say pick 11-20 will get it done, currently they're rejecting 5+23 from Bris. My idea is simply to leave Freo pick 11, we take Bris 5 + 2019 first round pick, they get Neale + The pick/player that gives them fair value for losing a 2019 1st round. Bris would back themselves to finish with pick 8-10 anyway with Neale on board.

Thats fine, then Freo should start 'negotiations' in good faith with the clubs that can help this get done.

Do you think that with the way Melb and Bris are being stuffed around by Freo, that they give a damn about how Freo is able to land Lobb?

Ok, so the current state of things (after 280 odd pages) is that Freo are rejecting an offer from Brisbane that is significantly superior than what they are prepared to offer Melbourne for Hogan. We all know the facts that Hogan is younger, a key forward capable of 50-60 goals a season compared to a very good mid, but there are dozens of very good mids in the competition to be fair, most clubs have 3-4 very good mids. How many 50-60 goal forwards to these clubs have. How many do Freo have, or have they had since Pav retired?

The problem is that Freo seem ignorant to how desperately they need Hogan!

Agreed. Lobb is worth pick 23.

Club supporters overrate their own players and undervalue those from other clubs.

GWS will demand a first round pick for Lobb. 10  - 16 range.

Bell has the intelligence of a dropped cumquat. He's an utter dipsh*t and it's both laughable and terrifying he is employed in his position.

Hopefully someone around him talks some sense into him so he doesn't destroy that already pathetic waste of a club further. Their list is in real trouble, and he's not doing them any favors at present.

I agree his value in trade terms would be higher than 23. I reckon he’s an average player though.

From 2011-2015 I was the opposite of this.

We are trading a 23 year old possible champion forward, for a 27 year old defender, who will probably play on him when the teams meet.

I agree with the bit about club fans over/undervaluing certain players.

But Lobb hasn't done an awful lot. Shown some glimpses, especially with contested marking, but had a very average 2018.

He's probably similar to Hibbo then (shown glimpses but no standout) and we gave up pick 29 for him.

I like the football/soccer rule of being cup tied - lets have a clause that Jesse cannot play against us ongoing...

Josh Mahoney is a pro.  He will run rings around Peter Bellend.

5&14 to me just about nails Hogan’s trade worth in my mind.

Dr Turf just said that the 4 way trade is done and it’s just some minor details to work out.

Wallace and Barrett are going to revisit the Neale delay with Freo and how it affects Hogan blah blah blah..

Coming up soon if you're not listening to trade radio.

Amateurs. No doubt Josh will have Plan B to get Steven May.

“We have been undertaking a due diligence process as part of a possible trade to secure Jesse Hogan. “As part of that process, we have had discussions with Jesse, the player’s management and Melb. (1/2)

(2/2)“While discussions were proceeding it became clear that what Melbourne would be seeking for a trade would not be possible for our club to meet. “As such, we have informed Melbourne and Jesse’s management that we will not be continuing further with the due diligence process.”

Who comes out on top.

There's the real answer to relative values in all of this trading ( for me )

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
