Should auld acquaintance ......

Might just meet you there.

Sounds great.

If we beat WC it will get very real.

I went in 1988 and 2000 but we were really no chance in either and that's the way it panned out.

If we can win this week we can definitely win the GF, I think degree of difficulty is about equal.

Do you have to get your hand drunk?

And do you record all your self abuse sessions?

How many supporters from West Coast or am I too cynical.

We beat West Coast and I'll declare I'm getting a Max Gawn tattoo on my bum if we win the premiership.

If it's good enough for Nathan Jones it is good enough for me.

Fear for my safety and that of my 2 kids on the walk back from Optus Stadium to the car.

High up in the stands of Optus Stadium, I will shed a tear and hug - as if my life depended on it - my 8 year old daughter, who in her lifetime has almost single-handedly re-kindled my enthusiasm/interest in footy and love of MFC, and treat myself (and my brother) to my first beer at a Melb game in 8 years.

Damn right!!

(I do like a beer, don’t get me wrong, but haven’t indulged at Melb games since taking the kids there.)

treat myself to a new flashy cheese platter board

I’m saving up for the premiership cheese board edition.

Run around my lounge room jump for joy and look ahead to next week after copius jack daniels and dry.

Check my bank balance (I promised my son that I would buy him the lego death star if we win a premiership!) (I also promised him I would get a tattoo!)

Solo or with a partner?

i wouldn’t normally ask but you strike me as someone who could  do non-consensual in your own company.

Log in to the bank app every 2 minutes to make sure the funds are still in there for the GF. I’d say most of us will be doing it.

Almost in tears reading this thread, is incredible how much we weave the fate and fortune of the club into our own lives to mark significant and very personal events, feel very close to all of you. I will be going batsh1t crazy here in Rome. We have our daughter due next Monday and in my mind the good fortune of expecting a healthy daughter is linked to how thehr club is going. And i know how objectively stupid that sounds, I'm even reconsidering the name should we salute in the GF.

The name Clarrie Olivia has a certain ring to it! All the best for next week - exciting and life-changing on all fronts

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
