Does anyone think Barlow at 30 years would be a inexpensive replacement for the great Berniie Vince? Never be as good as Bernie but could be useful as a depth player.

Says he would jump at the opportunity  to continue his illustrious career. Knows how to get the ball.

Surely you are joking?

I think we’re at a stage in our list build that we can look towards developing young / untried players as our depth.  We’re past needing to bring in experienced older player who would not immediately improve our best 22.

Would rather offer Bernie another year to be honest...

I think our list balance is good. If we aren't careful we won't have the right balance of kids coming through in a few years time. I think looking for some quality in the draft and bringing them through longg term prospects will serve the club better rather than tipping up with 1-2 year senior players.

Poor man's Craig Bradley. A receiver and accumulator but slow and with average disposal. Top up for the Lions or back to Victoria to the Bluesers or the VFL.

Nup. Not at this stage in our development. We are attracting blokes like Hibbo and Lever these days rather than begging blokes who would be happy just to be picked up.

Sounds like the kind of bloke we might have picked up in '13.

Michael Barlow is desperate to continue playing AFL.

He only played 3 games for 2018, avg 26 disposals. His last game he racked up 35, with 9 marks and 5 tackles, playing out of position in the worst team in the league.

I'm not suggesting he will be best 22, but he could add some good depth and we could pay him next to nothing. By all accounts he has an elite work ethic, and has crafted a career for himself the hard way. He could provide really strong leadership to the younger players, and the VFL players. Similar to the way Oliver followed Billy stretch and learned how to work hard, Barlow could offer the same leadership.

Finally, with Tyson probably on the way out, we are a little thin for back up mids. If a couple of Oliver, Viney, Gus, Harmes, Jones go down, Barlow would be a good back up.

Our list is so young, i think we could benefit from bringing in 1 veteran to compliment 3-5 draftees.

Not a chance. We have a couple of better veteran players in Jones and Lewis and there's no guarantee that he could get a game with us.

If we were going to bring in a player of his age, he would have to be a 20+ game per season player.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
