I am sick to death of the crap being written about stats.

There is only one thing that matters, as Jaded has said - WINS.

You can use stats to paint over faults, or gloss over failure.

At the end of the day I don't give a rats about F50's, contested ball, clearances, hit outs to advantage, metres gained, kicks to handballs etc, if we lose.

There is only one stat this club and its supporters need to concentrate on - WINS.

When we dominate that stat, I will happily consider the rest of them.

Even if pigs fly over the ground and it happens Ethan, it won't matter if we lose.

If that were to happen Gil would call an AFL meeting so that he can over turn the free kick count and give them to meth coast.

I hear what you're saying @Redleg - and everyone knows (Football department, supporters) its a win loss industry. But if you like numbers (which I do) - there is still sophistication and nuance in understanding the WHY of the wins and the losses that people like to revel in.

I reckon 43% of people would agree with Redleg.

Stats can help you to understand the game beyond the absolutely superficial, and to predict outcomes.

No need for that though, right?

So after 20 games of football this year the FD must have collected such a list of stats that they will know exactly what to do to win the last two games correct?

wow that makes me feel better the next two games are in the bag Mr Leg and I can relax.

Ok everyone - the baby boomers have spoken.

We are not to discuss anything other than whether we won or not.

To be fair, they did have to walk 20km through the snow to get to school.

I love my stats and analysis but youre right, they mean absolutely jack crap if we cant win. Good sides win, even when dominated. We lose, even when dominating. All that matters is those 4 points. The rest is spin and dribble.

Why are posts being deleted?

I have been having trouble with the site the last two days on both my phone and iPad and in different locations is it just me?

My post was actually rather simple. I was saying that personally I am sick of stats as I am only really invested in one - wins.

I have not found it superficial gaining my knowledge from seeing the games and what happened at them and then knowing the result.

I know why we lost on Sunday, we missed probably 12 gettable shots.

My point is that knowing we had 50% more F50 entries doesn’t make me happy, if anything it makes me angrier.

For those happy to invest in their stats, enjoy. If it brings happiness to know after losing a game that we won certain stat categories, who am I to interfere with that.

It’s just not for me anymore.

That's because horses are noble, gentle nurturing creatures, whereas the football world is so full of bastards you can hardly discuss it without using the word.

You have to use an actual phone and not just a picture of one from the Aus Post junk mail catalogue.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
