No. It's the greatest non-issue in footballing history. Did it matter when we won 6 on the trot? Of course not. It doesn't matter now either. Composure around the ground and improving our game plan has nothing to do with lugging a brick up a hill. 6 1 Quote

Bring-Back-Powell 15,548 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 Perhaps Goodwin can invite the players on an optional camp. Players are welcome to decline but will play for Casey the entire year. 3 1 Quote

Keep hanging your hat on that one. It's really done us well against the good sides hasn't it.. 4 Quote

darkhorse72 1,943 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 A camp would not have helped yesterday. Building a culture of success takes time to build, In Sydney it took Barrasi to right the ship in the early 90's the Eade took over and bought some success. Roo's build on that for with his culture approach. I see Roo's time with us as where Barassi started with Sydney in the 90's. Yes we got Roo's so we have started the culture approach earlier and Goodwin was selected based upon that approach as well. Camp don't create culture everyday actions do. 2 Quote

Guest Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 (edited) I think PJ summed it up all the way back in 2013 when discussing us pooing the bed against North. Leading up to that game, we had been on an emotional high thanks to the change in coaches. However, as PJ said, it was just that: emotion. There was nothing solid behind it or anything that increased the resilience of the club's footballers. Just thinking that coming out to the ground ready to run through a brick wall or getting involved in gimmicks like guerilla camps to increase mental toughness will do nothing to get us over the line. Nigel Smart walked over hot coals in 1993. The Crows thenproceeded to lose to Essendon in the qualifying final of that year after Mark Buckley farted in the rooms at half time. Based on that, these campus are sure to work aren't they? Edited August 13, 2018 by Colin B. Flaubert Quote

Oh FFS that is absolute bull [censored]. Why on earth could the coaches have considered doing this camp if it was going to have zero impact on our season? Do you think they were just bored and thought it might be a cool way to spend the summer? If it wasn’t going to have an impact then they should have just spent the entire pre season doing an ‘everyday actions’ camp. ‘Hey mate are you doing your everyday actions yet? I’m not sure are you?” For gods sake do you think we buy that? That’s total and square bull [censored]. Edited August 13, 2018 by Wolfturdo Quote

Before he come on board Hibberd and Melksham were not injured and Vinry had not reinjured his foot. Here is a fact, did you know where Gary Pert come from? Thats right, Collingwood and what have Collingwood had lots of - Injuries. Also think of the curse Collingwood have inflicted to other clubs including Carlton (Malthouse), St Kilda (Watters), Melbourne (Neeld, Lamumba, Dawes, Ben Ken). Yet we went back to the poisoned well. For the record I dont have any issue with the Pert hiring but was feeling left out of the hysteria after a disappointing loss. 2 Quote

titan_uranus 25,255 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 Adelaide did some sort of gruelling camp this off-season and are going to miss the finals with a list that took them to the GF last year. Can someone explain to me how the camp would have made any difference at all? 2 Quote
deegirl 1,584 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 My ten cents. I don't give a stuff about the camp but I do care the leadership team went to the AFLPA rather than the coaches to raise their concerns. It made the playing group look like they couldn't hack pressure. And when not being able to hack the pressure becomes a common theme on field, you look at saying no to the camp and question whether they've done all they could to prepare themselves. 5 1 Quote
deebug 1,754 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 We won 12 flags with out having to go on some stupid camp. The saints did some type of camp a few years back, where their first year players deprived of sleep for hours, and we all know how well their going at the moment. Quote
