Did he have a dart hanging out of his mouth?

If you freeze-frame, you can see Tom Scully getting spewed on again…

He wasn't. He was reportedly walking.

OMG - a player walking.

Slash wrists, climb tall building, seek hemlock ....

I would have thought Ruckmen have sore calfs every week. With all that jumping and crashing into an opponent all day.

Big Max will wear Jimmy’s number on sunday

Am I missing something - #11?

Overkill IMO. Just pick a method of death and go with it.

He sounds iffy about playing on Channel 9 right now...

What did he say.?

Jonesy on 360 was very confident that Max would play.  Party line?  Dunno.

Hestitated said just as well the game is on Sunday and he doesn't usually pull up sore...wait and see I suppose

My source tells me this morning that the calf is much improved. Max could not fully weight bear on that particular side earlier in the week but is now walking freely without discomfort.

Will be put through some running tomorrow morning and if he pulls up ok he will be right to go.

My source is confident Max will play which was music to my ears!

Great news.  Coming from you, this fills me with a lot of confidence.  Thank you.

Max needs to spend periods down forward, having spells (and kicking goals)

Pedo will be in the 22 i reckon.

He said he can see quite well.

As I mentioned in another thread, did anyone notice Gawn had his calf heavily strapped against the Suns? I did, so him walking laps was no surprise.

I also missed the Adelaide match due to other commitments, but watching the 1st quarter this morning, he obviously had heavy strapping on the calf then too.

Its obviously something he has been managing for a while now.

Pedo is in the 22, I'm thinking that is a good bet each way for either fully covering Max in the ruck, or at the minimum he plays that big man intercept marking role that Max has played so well in the back half of the season to give Max a bit of a chop out.

Yep. He will do both i hope.

He will play crucial roles. Let’s hope he does them well. We need him if we are going to proceed

That’s shin padding, which is what most ruckmen are using instead of shin guards now.

Wondered why the Opposition keeps trying to bring the big fella down all the time after he gets rid of the ball.....

Is it only shin padding though?

Looked to me like his calf was strapped.

Yeah that’s what it looks like, but under the strapping is a little pad right where the shinbones clash, you’ll notice it on most ruckmen this year.

apparently making big strides today.

rucking tomorrow ?

I think Hunt is more so to cover the role of Smith.  Pedo takes big pack marks at AFL level, Smith doesn't do that yet.

Spar go to ruck. Would certainly be an interesting first bounce.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
