Good changes.  Glad we overlooked Wagner.

Same

Lots of Tyson bashing on this forum, but the guy can kick...

If you watched first half against Doggies, the disposal accuracy was appalling

Hope Dom adds some confidence hitting targets

I understand the inclusion of Tyson, especially with Viney out.  If he's just played through the guts then he can have an impact for us, and he at least brings some experience and ball winning ability with him to the side.

The Joel Smith selection is a little perplexing for me, even though others seem happy with it.  Hibberd is good both defensively and offensively, and while Smith can give us something defensively, I don't trust him with the ball in hand, nor do I trust his ability to get the footy and do something with it.  I feel like Wagner is a more rounded player at this point and could give us a little more than what Smith would bring to the table.

Time will tell I guess, and I'm hopeful that Smith can prove me wrong on Saturday night.

Port Adelaide game

Yeh that result had nothing to do with our inability to convert forward 50’s into goals

Can a conspiracy theorist tell me the last game we lost because of the umpires

A team can lose a match because of the umpires without it requiring a conspiracy.  Just bad decisions (or non-decisions) at critical times.

And then there are things like the umpires being too generous to the local teams in WA.  I think that is generally agreed.  Probably due to the crowd, but it doesn't require a conspiracy.

I would have accepted St. Kilda.

Of course we couldn’t beat a bottom side because of the umpires

A bad umpiring decision is the same as a bad bounce of the ball, it happens, it’s not why you win or lose though. That comes down to not being in front when the siren sounds

Yeah that too. Umps with that ridiculous protected area rule that has disappeared didn't help.

Interesting Geelong have the one tall up forward that being Tom Hawkins, they've also gone in with the one ruckman in Rhys Stanley.

I agree largely with this comment  and have yet to be sold on what Iv'e seen of Joel Smith but the statements ' bolded above'  beg the question - why is the guy even playing AFL?

Wagner decision making scares me, so maybe no choice in selectors eyes?

Great to see Dom back in. We will learn alot about his desire. Hopefully no clangers. With Viney gone we need him getting his hands on it at the contest.

Jeffy also has a bit to prove, 2 to 4 goals please.

Going by positional changes, Bernie will be a stopper in the midfield rotating with Harmes.

Still want to see Joel Smith take some 'hangers'.

I’m surprised with the Smith inclusion, he’s a scrapper, not a run and deliver player. A bit confusing to me, I thought Wagner would be more like for like? Then again neither have shot the lights out of late. Not so sure about that inclusion, Tyson may be ok on a smaller ground.

Not sold on J Smith but there does not appear to be much of an option.

Does anyone have the Geelong side?

Me either

Is Menzel playing? Always kills us 4 goals a game must stop!

Ok the Hibberd injury was annoying but I am back too being pumped about this game.  Salem and/or Fritsch will more than cover Hibberds role.

Lets smash these pricks, god i hate them!

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
