People suggesting as many as 10 players getting cut or traded need to consider who we are getting in.  We have no good draft picks at the moment, not a great position to trade and the best state league players will be given to the bottom teams.

So players like JKH will certainly be on the list next year. I imagine T Smith will be as well. If Weed and Hogan both go down for example we need some cover.

So 4 kids in the draft, 2 casey upgrades. 2 players traded in (Pruess and Gaff) - yes i still think we are a chance at gaff

that is 6 so far.

Tend to agree

We've only really got ability to make one or two mid-level trades in and buy one RFA. Add 3-4 kids later in the draft and 1-2 State leaguers in and were looking at about 7 ins.

Assuming no big name trade out (e.g. Hogan)... I think this means

Retire: Vince, Pedersen, Balic

Delist: Bugg, Filipovic,

Trade: Tyson, Garlett

Question mark ?: Johnstone, McKenna, King, T Smith (has he got a one year ext??)

Then Lewis is safe and we need to  Re-Sign: Vandenberg, Kennedy-Harris, Kent and a few of the Question Marks

All the players listed above your last line have no future with us.

That gives us 5 spots with retirements.

Sounds like Tyson trade likely that’s six spots, and as much as I like Garlett he will be another trade, making 7 spots available!

Then Bugg to trade, or Johnstone or McKenna delist and we have 8!

8 is plenty to trade, draft or deal, a very good spot to add into our existing list, with only one Tyson being in our preliminary final 22. Tyson best spot is inside mid and I’d put at least 6 in front of him (Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw, Harmes, Petracca, Jones) and could add Salem, and AVDB, maybe more!

Trading, delisting eight looks great!

Retire. Vince. Balic.

Delist. King. McKenna  Johnstone (then rookie)

trade or delist   Jkh   Bugg

Rookie delist. Foilopovic

Rookie retain. T Smith Maynard

That’s 7 total spots. (6 main 1 rookie)

trade possible. Tyson (tough call)

rookie upgrade. Keilty

Pedo Bugg Flopvic King McKenna all delisted

I think Pedersen is unlucky. He was a handy backup but understand decision.

Johnstone lucky but might be delisted/rookied later

Next? Jkh and Tyson are tradeable

With Kent going we have 8 spots open on our list and its only 3 days since the season ended!  if hogan goes thats 9. No word about Maynard, Johnstone, Smith, Garlett yet

sounds like we will be very active in the trade/draft!!

Good decision to cut ties with King, Filipovic & McKenna.

I can't see any benefit to retaining Johnstone, even if his replacement is pick 100 in the rookie draft. Find the best available state league player and give him a chance on the list.

Kennedy-Harris & T.Smith survive only because we have badly mismanaged our list over the past two years.

Garlett, Maynard & Wagner are lucky they have contracts for next year, particularly the first two.

I would have kept Pedersen around until after trade week, and Vince would be better value next year than the bottom ten players on our list.

I thought the jungle drums were fairly strong that May would end up at Collingwood.

Imagine this:

Trade Hogan to Fremantle for Pick 6 and 5

Trade Pick 5 to Gold Coast for Steven May

Trade Pick 6 to GWS for Dylan Shiel

Sign Andrew Gaff as a free agent

Cap space would be a bit of an issue i'd assume.  But i'm no accountant

I know but I reckon Jeff and the Club might come to an arrangement to free up his spot. His heart is clearly not in it anymore. We will probably keep Maynard I’d say

I now think May will go to Collingwood, Shiel to Hawks/Blues and Gaff to NM.
