Bit unknown, Hogan amd Tyson played 20 and 17 games this year and Kent when fit was selected.

May would strengthen our defence but at who's expense? O.Mac gets games before Frost in Goodwins eyes.

Jetta May Hibberd

Lever O.Mac Salem

Kent isn't much of a loss we have plenty of half forwards.

Losing Hogan is a bummer, hoping Weed can continue to develop and kick 30+ in 2019. Tom Mcdonald will need to kick 40+

Will be interesting to see if KK can be a regular 22 player and where he plays his best football. He only played 8 games this year and 11 games in 2017.

Do we have any rumours of players we might be looking at drafting, trading for or picking up from a delisted club in the event of the following situations, or any personal suggestions on players to pick up?

  • Hogan is traded, May comes in. Another 3rd tall forward?

  • Hogan stays, May stays, Hold tight for a year? Or another KPD?

  • Or if Hogan stays. May signs with another club. Another KPD?

LINE-BREAKING midfielder Aaron Hall has been traded from Gold Coast to North Melbourne. The Roos handed over a fourth-round draft pick (No.68) to seal the deal, as reported by AFL.com.au on Monday

Quite a few seemingly good players are being traded at picks 50+ : Kent, Lycett, Rohan, Scully, Hall, Sam Lloyd and I'm sure there are others.

Just shows that most clubs are about cleaning up their list than sweating over picks.

Well my brain's fried trying to keep up...

Sooooo...if we do do 'that deal' ...and then the other...meaning

Out. Hogan

In May KK

Could some kind soul tell me how many spots we MUST fill ?

Is it at all probability a rookie upgrade might account for 1 ..even 2 ?

Rookie spots easy to fill... The list..I presume the draft but I've lost count of where we might end up here ( number of picks )

Time for a drink... we know ... it's early....its Circus week ;)

Port has Brisbane's 5 now and Brisbane have 6 - Bell will not be pleased

The only difference it will make is that Freo could have got the value in shifting 5 to 6 instead of Brisbane. I suppose that's the problem with waiting. Effectively it means that Freo received two picks for pick 5 instead of 6, so they lost value there.

Also, would Gold Coast view 6 as being 5 in a May deal? For us that's all that matters. Brisbane is extracting the value at the expense of Gold Coast.

True but I'm not confident Bell will be able to get his head around that.  It's quite possible it will complicate his negotiations with Brisbane for Neale because "now you're offering me 6 instead of 5 - I want more steak-knives"

I think it's probably the sort of thing that comes with experience. In his first year he's trying to win every deal but soon he'll realise that the true value comes from having the assets available when the real bargains are there to be taken.

He'll probably start realising now when all of these bargains are going to go around and he's too busy haggling over an unavailable 5 vs the 6 they had originally!

Means Brisbane have an extra 2nd round pick to use as part of getting Neale.

Still cant believe not real trades have happened today.

Port keeping ahead of Adelaide in the race to draft SA prospects.  Now only Carlton, GC x2, Saints ahead of them.  Port now 5 and 10, Adelaide stuck on 8 and 13.

I wonder if Port will try to do 5 and 10 to get one of GC's 2 or 3 to make sure they get one of Lukosius or Rankine.  5 still seems late for them.

I see Adelaide's 8 + 13 is enough points for 2.

Can't help but feel that the whole circus is unseemly and almost indecent.

Like a group of men haggling over a parade of prostitutes on a street corner with the pimps (player managers) urging on the suitors with their hands out for the shekels. The authorities/police (the AFL) pass by and turn a blind eye to it because they get kickbacks.

Its a win win for all.

But everyone is demeaned in the process.

The unholy alliance between the media, the AFL, the clubs and the players all prosper as everyone seek to have their senses and desires satisfied.

However, over time, the greed and the behaviour corrupts the decency and indeed the culture of the game.

The sad thing is that it is just going to get a lot worse in the future.   .

WE CAVED IN WITH HOGAN DEAL. Freo and other clubs must be laughing their heads of at this deal!

should have insisted on 5, 19, Kollo and late third rounder.

Under the deal done Neale worth more than Hoges

Gutted!

They offered 11 and 23 and we got 5 and 23.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
