Nasher I always find it interesting that people think what is said on here has an effect on a player.

Most players would not even know we exist let alone read our ramblings. Genuine question do you think the FD read this? If they do then do you think they take any notice?

If a 100 people on here think Petracca Is over weight do you really think that has effect on his attitude?

I am interested in your thoughts.

I doubt the FD reads social media but I think others at the club do as DL reflects supporter mood and that interests the club.  But, unless it was something as dramatic as the fallout from 2017 rnd 23 I can't imaging the club ever acting on anything posted here.

But supporter mood also interests journo's.  DL, fb etc are their 'sources' when they write about a club's fans.  It doesn't take long for them to make a story out of something, or out of nothing.  I would guess that journo's 'follow' players on social media platforms, so they know what is being said to players.  Tellingly, Lever had to delete his twitter account.

One way or another the message gets back to players so I'm with Nasher that complete fabrication should be avoided.  It can grow legs and spread thru social media like wild fire and picked up by mainstream media dressed up in various cliches about 'sources'.

Why does he need to play in the mid field, what's wrong with 5mins per quarter in there and 30 goals at half fwd. I know one thing when the rule change comes in, just the thought of TMac, Melk, Trac, Hoges one on one gets me excited.

Interesting LH.

The idea of a fan web site is for fans to express their views now nothing in the world is perfect so some will make silly comments however I would think if you try to censure comment then what is the point of of the site we might as well close it down.

I have stated that I think Petracca is a little over weight and does not appear to have the running Stamina needed at AFL level in the 21st century game.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that comment.

Do you think I should keep that opinion to myself?

Not at all, od.  I hadn't even noticed you mention Petracca seemed a little overweight.

I was reading Nasher's caution in response to someone else's comment that: "Trac doesnt seem like the kind of guy that would stick to a professional diet".

Sorry if it sounded like my post was related to your gentle comment.  More making the point about the role of social and mainstream media.

Hi old dee, I know first hand of occasions where things being said on the forum have made its way back to a player. In one case, years ago a former moderator on this forum got collared at the footy by the parent of a player who was demanding answers about why we continued to allow false and damaging information about his son to be published.

If you reckon Demonland is a neat little box where we can say whatever we want and it has no real world consequences, you would be dead wrong.

I understand people are frustrated by his form, but I draw the line at accusations that are 100% conjecture with no basis in fact.

Don’t make things up when you have no idea if it’s true or not. You might think it harmless, but it doesn’t take long at all for someone’s speculation to become the common wisdom.

I didn't make anything up, I was simply saying he may not be professional enough to stick to a strict athletes diet.

This is the same player who broke his toe dunking a basketball while rehabbing from his ACL, leaving Paul Roos to tear shreds off him.

Interesting!

I have never said that you can say whatever you want Nasher.

The fact that it is a public forum presents problems I have no idea how you counter other than closing the site. And then another would pop up.

A problem of the 21st century I guess.

Thanks for the reply.

If Trac lifts his game for the rest of the season, it will go a long long way to helping us play finals.

So far in his career, it's been all talk and very little action.

Agree. Petracca, Hunt and Garlett a big let down for the club this year and also the unlucky Lever injury.

His best football came as a deep forward last year. In the absence of Jesse he was a match winner more than once ( QB, ESS).

If it’s simply a confidence issue play him in his best position. Let him clunk a few up forward and hope he gets his range back. I believe he would offer more than 4 possessions ( Hannan) if allowed to use his strengths. I thought he battled hard against the Saints, a better showing than previous weeks anyway. Rotating between the centre square and half forward isn’t working.

You could argue we don’t need to play him deep as we are the number one team for marks inside 50. My belief is you need to play him in a position where he can impact the most.

Maclure is right...sadly

It's not Trucks fault we're in a rut ( as is he ) ...it's more he's a symptom, as suggested of it all.

If Track lifts... that's good but the idea it's his presence ,in a better playing performance, that might drive us onward and upward is I feel misplaced.

Christian plays in a somewhat manic manner at present. He's up , down, all over the shop but rarely if ever... consistent.

This is another signature of our game... we're manic ...and inconsistent.

We need a better accross the board cohesive effort. Everyone keeps waiting for this Jack in a Box to jump up and rip a game apart, and that not only will that make the difference on that day but will crack the dam and release the torrents ever after.

You'll be a long time waiting. As mercurial and exciting as he can be, sporadically and mostly cameo, he hasn't the tank to go at it all game nor does it seem to this observer the capacity as yet to stay focused and driven.

If we're waiting for Christian... we're in for an unpleasant wait.

I think it'll be another preseason and some serious thinking on his part before we see the better/ improved CP

and I hope we do.

He's not our Mr fix it though.

He is an interesting one.  I do think he needs to stand up though. He has the talent and big body to be having a greater influence, Doesn't have to be all game if he doesnt have the tank but he should be providing moment of magic to spark us.  And providing a threat in the F50 that the oppo have to worry about that would stretch their defence.

I think he is trying hard at the moment but it is just not coming

Interesting that the phrase 'drinking your own bathwater' was used by Max in his presser - I so rarely hear or see this phrase except on DL.  Seems like either the Journo or someone club-side may have been having a peek.

Part of the on boarding would have to revolve around not reading below the line.  As soon as you open the 'comments' or replies on any social media platform, you can be straying into some weird and wonderful places.  Read the article, sure - but read the comments at your peril!

As for Petracca - the rut is about 19 people wide at the moment.  If it was only him, then maybe Casey calls.  But we cant drop most of the team along with him.  Got to play the squad back into form, Petracca with them.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
