Lewis gets a vote cos unlike others he kept buttering up for secondary contests

We had a lot of top liners down (Hogan, Gawn, Salem) and a lot of b-graders plodding it up (Trac, Gus, Harmes, Spargo)

Ugly loss

Can someone explain how Jetta get in our best with 10 possessions and 2 tackles in a backline that let through 20 goals?

I’m far from a Lewis hater but can’t understand how could be in the votes today.

Probably because he was clearly in the best. Too many too quick to pot him.

6 T-Mac - too tall and strong in one-on-ones on Scharenberg once sent permanently forward.

5 Oliver - Copped Treloar and others working him over, but our best midfielder on a dirty day for most of them.

Really struggled to find votes from here

4 Lewis - Yes I know he was exposed for pace time and time again, but he kicked the ball with precision time and time again - except for his late blunder pass to Jones. Should never have been allowed to play last line at times, but that's not his fault.

3 Fritsch - Smooth mover and I suspect when I watch replay he will come out even more clearly on top on his wing.

2 Jetta - Caught out for pace like all of our defenders and his 18-year-old opponent kicked four goals, but he read play really well again and worked his butt off in defeat.

1 Gawn - I thought it was pretty close in his battle with Grundy and because Cox smashed Pedo when the stars rested, maybe a few of us downplayed his contribution.

Apologies Spargo - Our second quarter spark, but unfortunately couldn't keep it going, like most of his mates.

Gee, it says a lot when I've included 3 or 4 mids in my best, but we were smashed around the stoppages all day!

As hard as it gets to find 6 worthy today.  So many were so far off their best it wasn't funny.

We played about as well as we did against Essendrug (output wise as a team) and got rightfully pantsed.  Probably more of an indication of were the Pies are at.  Bloody good form team right now as mentioned pre-match with genuine multiple A graders.  Could go close to making the big one this year.

5.  Clarry

4.  Lewis - apart from that last horrible turnover across HB and inability to close down space on opponents quickly enough (zero tackles...wasn't alone in closing down space quickly ...Vince / Oscar et al) he was easily in our top 6 or so in terms of involvement.  Also topped our rebound 50 count with 8.

3.  Fritsch - this bloke just gets better and better!  Amazing courage also for such a small frame!  Other bigger framed (more experienced!) players could do worse than watch some examples of this young fella's effort / courage!!

6. Tommy. Six goals, fought hard and tried to give us a sniff.

5. Gawn. Even the Collingwood fans sitting near me thought he was smashing Grundy.

4. Jetta. The only defender who put in today.

3. Oliver. Just keeps getting the ball.  Should have had three goals.  If he had kicked them he would be higher.

2. Brayshaw. Some classy touches while holding a pretty solid tag.

1. Fritsch. Really, he tried, he worked hard, and nobody else deserves a vote.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
