His talent has always been there. A more mature body ( and head ) and some consistent game time are meaning it is showing through. I put Salem in a similiar lot to Brayshaw.

One of those rare players that is more than competent on his left foot and uses it as much if not more than his right. May well be a direct result of Jonesy taking him under his wing, who also does it on a regular basis.

Rapt for the young fella, and he seems happy as can be to be out there not just contributing, but dominating.

Gus is a mid fielder through and through.

He has had to overcome a few challenges along his way, and some field positioning that was not natural to him.

With his stronger body (and headwear), his footy skills with both feet and position now clearly on display, I am hoping he will not look back.

Well done Gus. You (and Nev before you) have shown that application and perseverance still have a large part to play in success. You are now part of a formidable mid field group that can write your own history.

It is interesting that people are celebrating his inside mid contribution when he has also been just so brilliant once the play spreads a bit. Most of his posessions against Adelaide were listed as uncontested, but you wouldn't say they were generally loose or soft posessions.

He is looking like a master of an aspect of the game that we've had a weakness in - getting to the right spot at the right distance from the pack, anticipating the movement in order to receive the ball and then have time to do something useful with it.

Clayton Oliver now has a target as good as his aim!

In 2016, was second only to Sam Mitchell for dominant/non-dominant kicking ratio. Mitchell was 51/49 if I recall, Gus 62/38, and the next best was in the mid 70's. If anything, he's evened that up this year. It's a brilliant skill, and the kid is simply a gun. Many, maybe most of us here knew it, and the wider football world are beginning to get the idea.

How long before I can stop taking a sharp breath when Gus leads head-first into a pack? I think the Petracca knee each time he pivoted took a solid six months of MFCSS mental reconditioning.

You could feel his joy and relief on Sunday in his interview.

He is just showing that class that was always going to come with a maturing body.

It is noticeable that he is ambidextrous with his kicking , which gets him into some really good position to move the ball well.

Seems a great young kid to fight back the way he has. A credit to him ,MFC and parents.

I remember strongly thinking that the quality of Petraccas highlight package was due largely to the distribution of Gus's disposals. Wrapped to see that within a few short years he's brought his body up to AFL level.

Im looking forward to their cohesion and understanding of each other's game being a large thorn in the side of many opposition teams.

Watched “all the goals” before and the way the whole team swamped him after the goal at the end made my hair stand on end. The boys clearly love him and that last goal was just a fantastic exclamation point to bump his 9/10 game to a 10.

So happy - both with him and for him. I was always confident he’d turn in to this player, but even I was starting to wonder if this confidence was misplaced. It’s definitely been worth the wait.

He is playing in the guts but he is our spread right now receiving the 2nd or 3rd hand ball and exploding outside. Super important to our performance these last few weeks.

If l had a tear in my eye it was because Angus Brayshaw playing a complete football game and enjoying his time in the side with his brothers that he loves at Melbourne. Remembering when he started in his first year and playing the majority of the year in the ones and holding his own. He only missed when he was rested. When he was concussed several times in his short career his playing future looked dim .

However he has turned it around in the five winning  games significantly since Goodwin took the shackles off and gave him the responsibility to play and own the midfield on a regular basis and he is playing incredibly well. I feel so happy for him.and deserves a bit of luck. The interview he did after the game in Alice Springs with Burgs hit the spot. This kid is special.

That celebration got me too. It was the type of celebration you make when you win a game by a point on the siren.

This kid is just a quality young man.

Dont underestimate how much he has been through, a couple of years ago he spent a few hours with some youth I was working with here in Alice and was fantastic. He spoke about the issues his concussion was causing and I feared his career was endangered. Can’t express just how thrilled I am to see him back and doing so well.

If Dusty had a 37 touch 3 goal game there would be a page dedicated to him on the AFL website.
