Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Never understood how a player gets dropped, doesn’t play, then gets named in the squad the next week.

It's almost like players train between games or something, and that this "training" influences the coaching group in some way. It's all very mysterious…

No way Spargo done a good job on Simpson.

I agree he has been good but they will rest him soon.  Garlett is aldo a better player and is to good to be in the 2’s

Would prefer to try Hunt forward over Garlett.

No future in Jeffey.

Hunt would at least chase and tackle like his life depends on it, and from memory he was a tricky match up and kicked a couple when he was thrown forward last year.

Play him in a position where he can still use his athletic traits but his poor field kicking isn't as obvious - just like TMac.

No future, you are kidding mate.

He kicked 42 goals last year and is far more dangerous than Hunt.

Garlett was afraid to take possession of the ball against Richmond. He's a cat.

Cant be trusted and is almost 29.

No future at all.

Hunt far too talented and young to have him rotting in the 2s.

I'm a Hunt fan but it's his fault that he's rotting in the two's.  He has been average at best since midway through last season.

I agree Hunt will have to come in but not as a forward.

Since when is 29 old? And We don’t need every player to be a contested ball player.

We beat them in Adelaide last year without Gawn and Hogan.  They were at almost full strength from memory.

We can beat them on neutral ground with a near full strength side.

i still think we’ll win by 6+ goals.

And they belted us in Darwin, what happened last year means very little.

I just think of it as a ranking from 1-40 (or whatever) and Tyson, through form and the availability of Viney fell from 22nd to 23rd. The fact that he was in the senior side in the first place means they thought him a better option than all the other players at Casey. Being dropped from the side doesn’t necessarily change that.

Not so much 23rd overall IMO.  Personally feel he is ranked much higher than that in an overall team sense.  More like the next cab off the rank out of the available inside/outside mids (including those at Casey) or vying for a position with one of them (should they drop off the pointy end a little).  Of course you need more than just mid fielders to make up the overall team but, as you say, he was pushed out onto the mid field fringe by the return of Jack.

Garlett was the best tackling and pressure forward for 3 quarters of the year last year, by a long way.

I like Hunt, but he chooses when to chase.

Hopefully hunt realises that a) with a bit of form he is a lock and that b) there are two old blokes one the back flank keeping him out but they'll be gone in 3 to 15 months.

Just one win out of 8 games in the Northern Territory.. batting average certainly needs to improve .

Mmmm, coincided with poor membership, needing to generate income. On reflection our batting average is quite shite out of the last 7-8 years everywhere.

it's way put of kilter with our Melbourne performances even in the bad years ... let's face it other than the money the NT games are a total loss... hope they go very soon

IMHO, Jeffy is a dangerous forward pocket and Hunty is a line breaking HBF or wing (preferably). We should make close to like for like changes.

I'm wondering if Hunt is now getting a tag quite often by a close checking quick opponent in order to curb his line breaking run given his success in this area in the last few seasons?  If so, It's a compliment to his game so far.  But the question then remains, how do you figure him into the team while getting the tag off his back, allowing him the extra space to utilise his run (and major asset) once more?

I noticed in his last few games he is quite often running to low percentage areas of the ground (eg., hugging the boundary) possibly to shake the tag and get a few more receives.  However, the counter to this is it then leaves him in a less damaging area of the ground to use his run and attack strengths even when he does get it.  And the flip side is he is then probably not being sought out as often as a result by other defenders quite as often as previously (when he was running into more dangerous areas (not under a hardish tag).  Exactly the outcome the opp coaches might be aiming for.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
