Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The better functioning area currently is defence. It still has canyons through it but its possibly the least dysfunctional. Lewis adds , for mine, a bit of stability. Our path to goal is stalling.

Left field perhaps: ( but not untried ..in bits )

Play Weed out of the square as lead up fwd. Max resting there as swap out...ie Weed to pinch hit ruck to rest Max. Max CAN mark. Hed be a bloody nuisance for Ess defence. How to match up..stuffs their structure maybe.

Tmac CHF. Just cruise around provide target. He can/knows how to spot up ( in front arc lol )

Hogan as R/R like utility between the arcs... but swap with Tom as a psuedo rotation to keep our fwd 50 fresh...and stuff up their ideas about match ups.

If the ball can make it into our 50 enough times Milkshake will have a good time..Spargo will be lively, hopefully wanting to impress... Fritsch is quite capable.

Ess were dlcking around the back a lot with the Pies. I don't think Collingwood put nearly enough fwd pressure on this.

I can't see us winning by a mile but there's potential for exploiting their mediocrity.

This won't happen of course.. we'll be instructed to play dumb again.

Like these considerations, beezle ... interrupted, of course, by atrocious and multiple umpiring decisions against us as Essendrug are in a cleansing, goodie-boy mode as far as the AFL is concerned, and this will be reflected in the umpiring, for sure. Such umpiring reflects the intended game outcomes as if the Dons have 'paid for their sins, already'.

I'd like to see Goodwin shut up for a while, allowing the players to massage their game to fix any slumps across the timeframe. Goodwin has had his chances and these have failed the team - and us.

I agree but as a small forward he is hopeless in front of goal.

Disagree. He is a better kick for goal than our ruckman for one.

Has kicked 29.23 in 49 games and averages .6 goals per game even though often played away from goal.

Clearly not a silky mid but a hard at it lead up small forward. No champ but we don’t have too many of them.

It hasn't just Richmond and Hawks man up and have structure if you don't follow instructions you play in the two's. No point switching unless you are free in space.

Wow         Great         Umpire bashing already.   I am sure that the AFL conspire to fix games for particular teams (not)

Umpires pay them as they see them, do not have the benefit of tv close ups or replays.   Yes they make mistakes but far less than players.    It doesn't help that they seem to have a rule of the week, every week but usually they do a fairly good job

Interesting thoughts, as usual BB. Did you see the article on Lever recently, where he said that this year teams seem to be playing one or two tall forwards, not three as they were last year? The sample size for this year is probably too small to make that judgement yet, but it could be, just maybe, that we are thinking of 3 tall forwards plus Max drifting down there to stretch the opposition defence? Tmac and Hogan swapping the roaming role, especially when Tmac is relieving Max in the ruck, would leave at least 2 talls up forward ... personally I like it. And I think Weideman is more suited to the lead up role out of the square than as a relief ruckman, for now at least.

No, that wasn’t the trade.

I just couldn’t think of or find any recent Melbourne players that went to Essendon but now as a write this I remember Jamar and Magner went to the Bombers.

From the "Lever quits social media" thread. Towards the end of the article it says:

This season that has dropped to two intercept marks, although Lever is figuring out how to handle smaller attacks.

“They’re sort of only going one or two talls this year whereas last year there were three talls for (nearly) every team, therefore I could play on that third tall.”

Reckon it’ll be Wagner instead of Hannan mate. I thought if they were serious about Hannan coming in, Harmes or ANB would have appeared on the extended bench (final changes always come from the extended bench, don’t care if anyone argues, they are wrong). I don’t see a need to fiddle with the back 6 and I reckon Wagner has been fine.

It was Fritsch for Jeffy, otherwise I was pretty close, mate. ;)

I don't think you're the only MFC supporter that doesn't want to go this week.

If last year's game was any indication, there's going to be a very small Demon turnout on Sunday. Hopefully a lot of EFC supporters don't go either and the crowd will be as low as 20K (not out problem, not our home game!).

'The press', is making the game boring to watch, and destroys young teams who do not have the tank to run as hard both ways.

In the open games, the younger sides still perform well. and you can watch the game and enjoy its flow.

older eyes don't see so well into congested plays to see who's in theree and what the hell goes on inside the congestion. Its a pain in YouknowwattsIt.

It’s hard isn’t it, I travel 2hrs to get to most Melb games and also fly to PERTH games. I’ve wasted so many weekends I’m starting to feel sick about it. Love the club and obviously want it to succeed but wasting weekends because of it.

Reason I’m annoyed at the moment is we’ve gone backwards in a big way and our skills are atrocious, I’m also very suspicious that there’s something not right within the four walls at the moment. Which I’m also sick of.

Will go to bombers game but if we lose I’m taking some time off, especially if we dish up the same rubbish as the last 27 weeks. The headless chook game plan is just dumb and every supporter here can bloody see it, why so hard for coaches to fix.

That is the million dollar question SF.

I tell you what though, unless you fix some of the basic 101s of playing footy, you know ....the ones that we know this team struggles with within games week after week, no matter who the Coach (Coaches), you are going to have a damn hard job of implementing ANY game style with the mess we put out on the field most weeks/quarters.

Goody's main challenge is to get them to play the basics well as second nature along with sticking to the percentage plays that will give us our best chance to score, and as a result improve our chances of winning.

Harmes doesn't deserve a game.

There are many that probably aren't worthy of an AFL game samcan given their form so far this season.  We only bat about 14 deep.

We wouldn't be able to field a team if you took that approach as we don't have the depth to cover 8 who are sub AFL standards at this point.

In the context of our team i have Harmes ranked at No.11 anyways.  While he is having an ordinary season so far he also has many below him worse off right now who are even more lucky to be getting a game.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued.
