The nuff nuffs was aimed at the usual paramoiac posters who turn everything into the 'sky is falling ', without knowing the full facts

I sometimes wonder why they call themselves 'supporters' when the only time they seem happy is when they have something to carp and whinge about

We are all supporters, some more than others, and we have all been thru the last 10 years and longer, but don't feel the need to continually whinge about it

Like the fact that McCartney never sits in the box?

This has gone on and on because of your refusal to just say you got it wrong.

The bigger issue is the leak to the media rather than the move of McCartney itself.

Man enough, from heroes who hide behind nicknanes, tough guy, the Club had to [censored] on the fire on an experiment that didn't work, my point, now listen, is that it was in no way a problem as his role had always been on the bench previously

Besides which I can say what I like on here, like some of you more colouful sermons, grow up

I like what you bring to the forum and appreciate your comments and support of the club however you are trashing yourself and your information if you don't acknowledge you were incorrect in some of your assertions. It's called being humble.

Between the camp and this McCartney stuff and the second putrid performance in a row, looks like the club is in turmoil again.

Happy to be proven wrong but we have been woeful, and we weren't even good in our two wins.

Morris has “stepped away” from the MFC podcast....

Katie Caty Price from network 10 has taken over.

He was pushing his luck after the 'Goodwin/camp fiasco' and 'McCartney banished from the coach's box' stories.

'Leaking' the Petracca omission story yesterday was probably the final straw.

Let's hope that whoever inside the club is feeding him stories, stops!  Or he will still get stuff to write.

@Grapevineywill be happy!

Me too for that matter. It’s a disgrace to have a member of the media so willing to trash the club representing it on its official podcast. It’s a bit petty but I hope he was escorted away rather than “stepping”.

...take his f@#$en smile with him. On the subject at hand, McCartney did appear to have a great rapport with Kent on the bench after he came off and i liked it.....

Did you also notice McCartney standing outside the huddle at the breaks and leaving early?

I notice that Tom Morris wasn’t on the latest Inside Melbourne podcast, did he get the flick?

EDIT: Just saw the posts above about this.

It was clear that he was abusing his position within the club to further his own media career.

I’m surprised it took so long for him to get replaced.

I’m late to this thread, I miss all the good [censored].

What a doozy.

Like the fact that BM is on the bench it is critical that the players get the communication flow accurately and timely and he has a good rapport with the players........................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems a number of coaches have gone to the bench to talk directly to players including Clarko.

Couple of things on Brendan. He must take a huge amount of credit for our contested brand of footy & developing the like of Oliver, Gus, Viney, pretty much the whole list in the aggressive, hard footy we play. He did it with the dogs and built them for that 2016 flag, Beveridge just added the icing & he’s had a huge impact here.

Secondly, interesting since he has gone to the bench it has conincided with our current form... Don’t know what to read into it but it’s interesting

It must have been the decision to want to slow the game down and play a more boring brand of footy. Max Gawn touched on it in an interview as well, he said for a while we were playing boring footy and not taking the game on and playing on as much as they'd like. I'm only speculating here, but maybe McCartney was trying to foster more of a defensive mindset and Goodwin was having none if it?

I don't think we'll ever know the reasons behind it unless Goodwin, or McCartney himself, come forward with it.  We could speculate all day - perhaps they moved him there as an extra voice on the bench to encourage, support and teach the players through the game, something he has always been really good at?

Either way it's been a positive move and further proof that Goodwin is happy to make changes when required.

Maybe we should change the word "demoted" in the thread title to "promoted".

Been very impressed with the way Goodwin has managed the people around him this year. Things have been tried and mistakes made, but that’s all part of the learning process for any coach of any years of experience. The Brendon decision was a great example. It’s how he has responded and the adjustments made that show we are on a winner with Simon.

Keep up the great work MFC, I’m loving what I’m seeing atm

Did anyone notice Matthew Scarlett give a shout out to Brendan? Gave me a warm feeling to hear the wrap given, knowing this guy is looking after our young blokes. From someone Iused to be so jealous of, always wished he'd been ours.

"Contrary to reports, McCartney was not demoted from the Demons’ coaches’ box to the boundary line this year. It was simply a return to the role McCartney had been playing for the previous three years."

Well, there ya go

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
