Miles took on a tackler...beautiful tackle.....drops ball. Play on.  Umpires refuse to pay against the Toiges more often than not!  Awful

Bugg grabbing at his hip. I think he copped a bad corky from the blonde Tigers scumbag.

Bugg injured in that mark.   Hobbling off.  Suspect a bad corkey with player laying knees in late

Cssey's on-ball brigade make a no name on-ball brigade sound like rockstars.

Which is why equating their performance with Melbourne's idiotic.  But I knew it wouldn't stop some.

A lot of AFL-listed players in there for Tigers, aren't there?

Was that you clapping on the half forward flank when Bugg hobbled off with a corkie?

;)

Well the demons are getting a good workout.

Pedersen... excellent first quarter but not much so far in the second

To be fair it hasn't been down as often as the first and the delivery's been pretty ordinary under a lot more pressure....or just ordinary!

Not quite.

Does anyone want to list Casey's midfield today ?

Our skills are deplorable. Looking over the whole list, we might only have a small handful of players that know how to dispose of the footy.

I might have misunderstood. I'm hearing some names of players that have played a lot of senior footy in the AFL, and that have good futures. Bolton, Markov... and some other like Miles who get no love. They're no names in the AFL... but in the VFL?

As for us, yeah, a lot of NQRs.

Did they play for Cssey ?

You may need to read my post again.

Apart from Pedders working for it, our big men do not take enough marks around the ground to provide any relief against the tide and are too easily pushed off the ball.  No physical presence.  No big grabs.

Hannan good early but two turnovers looking to go inside this quarter.  Bugg a horrid one in the first.

Nice work from Munro, Spargo and JKH for the finish there for the goal against the run.

spot on RN.  this a is a demons issue, club wide.

We have to look to getting some centre-line players who are strong in the air,,, as well as with the legs, and feet.

If we are leaking a [censored] tonne of goals in both senior and reserve teams then something isn’t working in the game plan

I don't think Our game plan is solidified just yet.  WE seem to be searching and adjusting, nip here tuck there to see which balance suits us.

I expect more experimenting this season as we churn our list, introducing more into the senior team.

I think we will make the lower part of the top just.  we are still in a transition phase, Re list and maturity.

We at Melbourne do not value midfield marking anywhere near enough. we look for runners only.

Midfield marks are crucial to ease pressure, and to reset play, going into 50.

I'm hoping this will eventually be Weide's forte.

After 11 years of not making finals we are in transition phase and stil trying to work on our game plan? When is your plan for making finals, 2028?

And BTW it would be good to have players with legs and feet. Do you think before posting?

Maynard, Bugg, Hannan, JKH. Our senior players and they all butcher the footy. Our list severely lacks class.

Yep... I see a lot of sausages out there TK but not much sizzle.

Not enough run either.  Apart from Hannan and Gent the run seems to be lacking that would help stretch the opp and use their energy up chasing us instead of too much the other way

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
