Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

And yet they have three Friday night games to come, plus they get a total of 13 games at Etihad (two more than we get at the G).

Despite finishing a game and 10% behind us last year,

Despite their average home crowd last year being 4,000 smaller than us (and our figure was dragged down by the two NT games).

They look like a bottom 4 side.

I agree with this, titan.  They look like a side that turns up, has a dip and knows they don't have the skills or the talent to compete with most sides.

Their whole structure is struggling mightily without Riewoldt down there, as McCartin can't get near it and Bruce looks to be a shadow of a player who burst on to the scene a few years back.  Their skills are deplorable and, while they have a decent back line, they find it hard to generate consistent run from their half backs.

They have some tough games coming up as well, so their season may be over in 3 weeks time.

Remember when Carlisle said “this club is f’ked” at Essendon. Wonder what he’s thinking about this one.

Don't care because I'm loving seeing them be rubbish.

A lot of lippy St Kilda supporters around who often give it to Melbourne.  No doubt they are bitter they passed on Petracca.

True. I think we have a bit more individual brilliance that helps. They have Jack Steven and... yeah Jack Steven.

I agree, I think they really miss that upper end talent. So many uninspiring players on their list but no real stars or anyone with any excitement whatsoever, really.

Outside of winning a few over us in recent years, I have no idea why they get lippy about us.  Most of their entire existence in this league has been a joke.

There are 24 Thursday/Friday night games to come this year (not including Round 23).

8 of them feature at least one of Carlton, St Kilda or the Dogs.

One third of the primetime games to come featuring sides who look like they'll finish bottom 4.

It's crazy.

No team should get that much prime time, even the good ones.

Gold Coa$t selling a home game to Freo in W.A.

Why does the AFL need to do that?

lambs to the slaughter, Freo with a massive advantage

that stinks

Comm games. Apparently got $1mil for this deal. Sounds much more lucrative than the NT deal we have going!

The praising McCartin for basic simple things is so cringeworthy. He received a handball standing still and then handballed, and that was “really good.”

They do it every week.

Yet 10 years ago Watts would kick 4 and the commentators would still say he is no good.

Not to bring the Watts thing up again, but just goes to show you how the media loves to pick on Melbourne no matter what.

St Kilda are hot garbage and McCartin, who I feel a bit sorry for, is not definitely not gonna help them get better right now.

Yes i know it’s the Comm Games

But it is a joke they could not find an oval in QLD to play the game.

But the AFL don’t know about fairness

Agreed, would have been an opportunity for them to take a game to somewhere like Rockhampton or Bundaberg.

Posted this on the changes for next week thread and thought it might also be apposite for this thread:

"Our present game plan seems to substantially channel the Richmond game plan.

If so today's game between Hawks and Tigers will be a fascinating lesson in whether the scramble of Richmond  can overcome the precision of the Hawks.

A real pity that this is not the FTA broadcast game"

19,000 people at the St Kilda game tonight and that included a strong Adelaide contingent.

Pretty poor for a Home game from a club that has 35,000+ members.  Fair weather fans!

North supporters are the same.  From where I sat yesterday (Southern Stand) it looked like there were hardly any North supporters.  I would be surprised if more than 5,000 of the 35,500 were for North.   Quite disappointing turnout from them as its really important we get good numbers to the G for our Home games.

Today O'Meara is the the one to watch.

While Mitchell is attracting the attention, JO'M will be the silk.  He is slowly building into the player he was always going to be.  His true breakout game is not far away - let's hope it is after we play them next week!

WOW.  Didn't know that.  Like the Saints they also have about 35,000- members.  Very poor turnout!

At least when we were rubbish you could rely on at least 20k to 255K supporters going to our games.

Given daisy's post above maybe that can be the 'North Hobart Saintly Roos'. and merge them!

Both those clubs are in strife with average lists, coaches that don't appear to have it and members that don't go to games even when they don't have to pay!

This is where PJ et al are kicking goals.  He has rebuilt our club financially and strategically.  The most recent Leighoak/pokie decisions are a real game changer for us to hold us in good stead for the next 20 or 30 years.  North and Saints have just been treading water and will be left behind to feed off the largesse of the AFL.  They can no longer blame it on their poor Etihad stadium deals.

suspect a lot of norf members are 3 game tassie residents (and a good % of local members could be too)

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
