Who do we need to sign down now? T.Mac, Hunt and Brayshaw? I haven't kept up with the contracts over the off season.

Another one locked in.

Exactly.  Another player shows faith in the club and the direction it is heading in.  Great stuff.

Great signing!

I know Fritsch is all the rage at the moment (and rightly so) but I think half-forward is Hannan's to lose at this stage.

From media I’ve read about Fritsch, it sounds as though he’s got a great field kick and rarely misses a target. Unfortunately for Hannan, this is an area he needs to improve upon. Too many missed short-range targets last year might give Fritsch an advantage depending on the role they’re given.

Both know how to snag a goal that’s for certain.

Well done Mitch. Be assured the club values your commitment and your skills.

To those of us outside of the inner sanctum, it appears we have a group of talented players who want to be playing footy with each other in pursuit of the AFL's highest prize.

Melbourne Football Club, under the stewardship of PJ, PR their management and coaching crews (and their successors) is finally start to look like a team on a mission. The many young guys who have now signed on to be part of our tilt at a flag is an inspiration and motivation to all who are involved in the club.

Bring on 2018 so we can let our playing group loose, to do what they have in their minds and bodies to do. Play some brilliant footy.

Watched a few replays of or better 2017 games over the summer and one thing which really stood out is how much pace Hannan has.  Would have to be up there with the quicker players in the side.

Certainly like his work inside the forward 50 arc, good mark, good positioning and both a good set shot and oppertunist goal sense.

Another great signing by the club.

I reckon they want to play both.

I do too. I think Fritsch will be taking the position made vacant by Watts.

well they could do worse than that!

Great news! Something Mitch offers is the ability to just get the ball to his boot and put it in the vicinity of the goal. To use a soccer term he turns a half chance into a goal quite naturally.

He is the quickest hands to boot  player I've ever seen and it's no accident when it goes through the goals

Hasn’t the wheel turned full circle - we used to hope for players to come, now we hope the ones we’ve got will stay.

This is great news.

Found this on youtube, his groundwork and the time from taking the ball to kicking is unreal.... enjoy.

Plus he can take a grab :)

From the first game I watched him play, he had one elite skill, and that is ball to foot speed. Consistently faster than anyone else I have ever seen.

Also like his work in the air. Hits a pack like a much taller player.

Very very happy with this news.

One of the things I like about Hannam is that he accelerates into contact and uses his body to impact the opposition.

For some reason his movement, snaps and leap reminds me of Gary Ablett Snr... which can only be good.

Agree

Has really come a long, long way - he does hit the contest very well

Good pick - welcome to future success, young man

I'd extend Jetta but I don't think that's a huge issue. I wonder if Harmes isn't worth getting done before the season to get him cheaper so to speak.

Obviously the club would want to sign Brayshaw and Oscar but I'd probably let them play and earn the bigger deals if they want them.

No idea what to do with Tom McDonald.

Fantastic news!

What's  not to like about Hannan? Only one season in and he has shown a lot of tricks. Great pickup and will only get better.

Good aerialist too, although Fritsch might match him there with a little less dynamism

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
