He will be the nicest guy not picked for their Grand Final side.

and he will walk the talk!

OF course he would say that,  Adam terloar said Collingwood had a better younger list then Richmond, look how that turned out. The way things have gone in the last 2 season's gold coast could be closer

Great for trenners he has another shot at AFL. Nice synergy, given what he and Watts has gone through together.

Jack trengrove will only play 1 maybe 2 games for port.

Big words from one of the softest players of the modern era.

Pretty much what you would expect him to say, although I did find the very first quote interesting.

"You know who I think is (closer to a premiership), that's why I'm here"

Not the first part, more the second part. Wattsy, I think we all no the reason you aren't at Melbourne, and very little of it was your own doing.

Maybe a more pertinent question is:  "are Melbourne closer to a Flag without Watts?"

....i hope he doesnt.

So he left to win a flag with Port? IIrc he was dragged out kicking & screaming.

I won't believe that we're close to a flag until we're 15 goals up in the last two minutes of the Grand Final. Even then, I'll have my doubts.

On moving to Port: “The best decision I’ve made.”

Doesn’t he mean “The best decision made for me”?

I think he meant "compared to choosing Geelong"

"Where else can I get away with being a flakey outsider with limited application to my chosen profession? Outside of moving into the public service downhill skiing Port is the perfect opportunity to while away the rest of my career"

Edited by Dr. Gonzo

The better question would be "why aren't Melbourne closer to a flag Jack?" "What did you do to move them closer?"

Hopefully that piece of Fish and Chip wrapper will be filed away for when the 2 teams meet.

a couple of Jack Watts teeth embedded into the adelaide oval turf,

nothing serious

A bold call for a team that just won 2 out of 11 games against the top 9 sides of the league, but feasted 6 times on Gold Coast, Brisbane and Collingwood.

Never liked him.

Plays for Port, like him less.

Lol he's not wrong. We haven't made finals for over a decade.

Of course he was going to say that, hes a power player now.  I always liked Jack Watts, wish him all the best, Jack is the kind of Cream you need in a team, that may bob up from time to time to do something special, consistency will always be his problem.

If things go south for Port this year, it will be very interesting to see Kochy implode.

Jack Watts the footballer has often made me want to puke, but the only story here would have been if he'd said the opposite.

Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. Will fit right in at Port.

Whilst as a Dee supporter, I loved him as a player. However, his '...best decision I've made...' statement really might well read: 'The only decision I had left.' It is a pity.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
