I mean clash jerseys is a basketball/soccer thing. Everyone was fine for over 100 years, why are they having so much problems now?

The games is 1000 times quicker, there are more people around the ball at all times and it’s much easier to see quickly at th3 ground and in person. Until the mid 90s the game was more kick to kick. Easy to tell people apart.

Yeap sure is, welcome to the 21st century pop. I saw the Cats had a longer sleeve ensemble on last night and thought well they will make some money out of those, can’t wait for us to do something like that as well.

We need to, need to pay for a new training base.

I don't necessarily have a huge issue with there being a white strip but there's two things I don't like:

Firstly our current white strip is without a doubt one of the laziest designs ever, it's like they woke up one morning, looked through their agenda and realised New Balance needed the print that day to create the merchandise and just decided to slap the logo on a white background. For crying out loud Melbourne, get creative and make it a design competition on the website where it's voted by the fans.

Secondly it's the hypocrisy of allowing other clubs to get away with no white clash strip. I can cop the Pies because they are already black and white, and the Eagles don't really clash with anyone else massively with Gold and Royal Blue. But someone like Essendon, tell me how we are different to them? If they have a reverse colour scheme as their clash strip than so should we. There's also the fact that we wear it when we really shouldn't need to. It should ALWAYS be the Red and Blue unless there is a direct clash. It's bad enough we have the stupid thing, but we shouldn't have to wear it unless it's really needed.

Anyway, every year it comes up and every year the same frustrations are aired. And every year the result is the same.

The AFL is diluting the clubs' brand so that they become the brand. Typical Heysenburg.

I am a fan of winning GF’s in the Red and Dark Blue.

The new clash strip is better than any white crap we have had to wear over the years, but i was not a fan of it back in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

I bought a new footy jumper Round 1 1987  in celebration of leaving the light blue jumper behind.

Sorry for not liking it.

But it is an improvement on White

Dark blue? DARK blue?? It's NAVY BLUE YOU HEATHEN!!!!

Undefeated in the royal blue for 2018

I’ve seen a few colour photos from the 1960’s. It’s really hard to distinguish it from black. I kinda like the blue they adopted for the 2004 season:

How about a question mark in the title? I read it and was hopeful it had been given the boot. Bring back the disco blue.

AFL are crazy. Their is no clash whatsoever. This directive of clash jumphers ( in my mind) comes from Channel 7 and some boffin wanting a more "black & white" vision.

We are brethren.

(Not the religious type).

I love the Studio 54 plates of cocaine jumper more than almost anything else we've done in a decade.

Without getting too carried away with what it means for where we are at as a club, bathing in the glow of Sunday's glorious record win against the Carlscum, it has basically taken me to this point in the week to get interested in Demonland.

Can't help but think how much better the win was being played in something clearly identifiable as a MFC jumper and how it would have taken the edge off it, had it been performed in one of those crap white Bali singlets.

Also got me to wondering would beating Carlton by 109 points have been the biggest win for the MFC in a royal blue jumper?  ...pitty T Mac missed what for him was almost an unmissable goal after the siren, or it could have been a 114 point win.

We haven’t lost in that jumper for 30 years Adam!

So has anyone seen the potential clash of jumpers this weekend ? I am not certain if Adelaide are wearing their indigenous jumpers, but if they are, they are almost the same.

Surely AFL has considered it. You wouldn't be surprised if they haven't though

Both navy with red artwork. It'll be confusing when they are running around. Crows should have a light background...like yellow

With my AFL glasses on, No clash there!

And no clash with the umpires uniform either.

Scott McLaren now works as a pharmacist in Melbourne’s Surrey Hills but regularly takes his 12-year-old twins to watch ...

I reckon in a few years we'll be back to wearing white clash strips.

Every year or 2 clubs seem to want/have to change the designs, and New Balance will probably come up with a mostly white jumper down the track.

Seems like clash jumpers go around in circles for some clubs.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
