The Grand Final - 2017

Featured Replies

Well, it's Grand Final week...

With all the trade talk and discussion of where we go next year I nearly typed 2018 in the heading, lets hope it's us.

From an early in the week standpoint I thought it would be interesting to get peoples views on who they think will be premiers and if that changes as the week moves on.

My thought this morning has been that it will be a blowout with the Crows having to much firepower all over the ground.

Now this is coming from someone who hasn't rated the Tiges all season and at the start of the year I had them bottom 6 (maybe even bottom 4). So I have a bias against the Tiges...

The Crows finished on top as clearly the best team in the competition and they've done nothing in the finals to date that takes away from that view.

If they take the emotion out early then I can see the Tiges folding and they won't have 90k supporters on side to will them over the line.

...and just a quick one on that other sport. The Storm deserve it so much and isn't it great that Gus Gould has to sulk all week with no Sydney teams in it. Go Storm...stick it up the NRL

Gonna be a great game imo. Adelaide is imo the strongest Grand Final side for a long time and Richmond is at full strength and with a lot of momentum. Could go either way imo. Would not be surprised if Richmond hold on and win

Crows by 36

Charlie Cameron first goal

Jake Lever for Norm smith @stevethemanjordan Lol

Apologies to you rjay for risk of turning it into a nearest to the pin thread.

agree with the margin. i'll go a range of 30-39

would not be surprised with a 1st qtr blow out

Don't want the cows to win it so tigers it is.

Must admit I have found it very hard to get into the finals this season and not sure I will even watch the gf.

The Melb loss in rd23 is still churning in my guts and has affected me a lot longer than I thought it would.

Don't the tigers to win it, so i'm going for the Crows. Generally if we're not in it, i usually want an interstate team to win (GWS not included).

Crows have been the best all year, so deserve to be premiers.

As an Adelaide person all I can say is Come on Richmond!

Adelaide are a fantastic side and deserve it but their supporters are the biggest whingers of all time; its like having 60,000 Mother in laws.

Haven't the Toiges gone too early ? Will it all become too much by Sat ?

Adelaide ...very composed at present.

Richmond....  very elevated on belief.

Whos going to shut down Dusty ?

Wholl play on Rance to take him away from the contest ?

Cotchin wont get away with his bullocking this week.

The Giants got lost in the occasion, Crows will lap it up.

Crows jumped cats...then pummeled them.

Richmond were also quick out of blocks but were then caught after starry eyed Giants woke.

Head says Crows by 50

Heart.....couldnt care less.

Adelaide by either 65 or 98 ( I have 2 $20 each points margin tickets) & Lever comes through without a scratch.

I think it will be a close game. Within a goal. The Tigers played a very good 2nd Half on Saturday. It's not as if they limped in

Adelaide amaze me considering their coach was murdered 2 years ago, what resolve they have...

Both sides have strong claims to this years Grail

Watch it closely Goodwin

You can guarantee....no bruise free footy this Sat. Going to be manic from the beginning.

Be very surprised if all players are walking come the final siren.

Should be entertaining ;)

Hope umps dont ruin it.

Crows by 27 points

Lever worst on ground. Lowers his trade value and then he can come back like Cotchin and play well next time (with us).

I'm going with Adelaide by 35 points

Taylor Walker to win the norm

i reckon they'll put a lot more effort into stopping betts and Cameron.

They not only kick goals but they give so much forward pressure and create a lot of play. They'll do everything to try and stop them.

Problem for Tiges...even dragging Betts up field won't stop him assisting.

Crows to win it for me, not sure I could handle the off season with the Tigers as Premiers but guess we'll see how it goes. Also would be nice to say we beat the Premiers.

Crows for me, by 50 points. Eddie Betts norm smith first goal Tex Walker.

Hate the fact teams keep passing us, such as the tigers, maybe next year ?:D

Crows by 19.

Should have to much fire power up forward.

Tom lynch best on ground

Crows by 40 pts. I hope it's closer though, a goal in it would be fantastic to watch.

It looks like Adelaide are the best team. So i think it's most likely they'll win. Richmond are harder to evaluate. I wrote them off many times through the year, but definitely enjoyed watching them play.

I hope Richmond, but think Adelaide have a stronger list.

Go Tigers!!! Do it for Victoria!

Go Crows, they have been the best all year in my opinion and I would like to see them win it but it doesn't always work out like that.

Tex to tear Richmond a new one and win the Norm Smith!!!

Crows by a point. The less black of 2 evils.

The worst finals series I have seen. Hopefully Saturday it is close.

Let's just hope all the air goes collectively out of the tiger fans with about 60 seconds left on the clock. Now that would be funny !!!!

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
