remind me... was there a GF where the team that wore the clash jumper had their traditional jumper ready to put on for the celebrations?

IIRC they lost

I loathe our white away strip and I feel for Richmond more if they have to wear the yellow over Adelaide having to wear their away strip. Having said that shouldn't the higher ranked team be given the choice considering that's how the finals system works in relation to "home" teams?

Clash strips were not an issue for over a hundred years.

If there was no confusion on b&w TV - NB in two GFs in 1977 Norf v Collingwood - then why should there be one in 2017??

The AFL in their typical arrogant manner have created a pseudo-problem* and now selectively dictate solutions.

* rushed behinds in one GF,  resting players in the final round in one season (an experiment that backfired) are just a couple of other examples.

We are red and blue. FFS if we clash eith the dark colour of Bombers Blues Port Meth Coast then red jumper and blue yoke or MFC monogram with white shorts sorts that out.

Hope Tigers wear their traditional jumper and pay the fine

Thank you
A Collingwood Premiership.... no wonder it was wiped from my mind !

I think the main motivation is all the photographs of players celebrating Stkilda's only premiership showed them in Collingwood jumpers as the players had swapped after the siren.

Collingwood spoiled the party twice.

I still have nightmares of our players handballing to the umpires when they were wearing pink for the Breast Cancer match against the Bulldogs at the G in 2010.

If the clash exists, which I believe it does in the Crows v Tiges, then it benefits everyone to reduce it.

I don't think I'd care what our team is wearing if we won a flag; they can run around in frilly pink g-strings as long as they win a premiership.

There is clearly a clash.

Dark blue with yellow and red

Black with yellow

Moving at high speed and youve gotta pick a target 50m away. Obvious clash.

Higher team gets choice - perfectly fair.

It is beholden on us dees to get a proper clash kit and not a [censored] white one.

I hate the alternate jumper scene but in addition to the notorious pink umpires costing us a game against the 'Dogs in '10 I also remember Peter Walsh under pressure 40 minutes from the Essendon goal hand passing to...James Hird, who duly kicked a goal in what was a crucial point against the Bummers.

Would hate to see that in a GF (and of course the Essendon clash strip in another AFL stuff up has even MORE RED than usual).

I always think it funny that for almost 1.5 centuries we could work out which team was which we even had decades of B & W Tv and still worked it out but now we cannot work out Richmond and Adelaide.

Also back in the day , they were all covered in mud for many games !

The only clash is that between the AFL and common sense. Let the AFL administrators spend their lives in AFL approved garb if they wish. Let Gil wear AFL approved canary jocks round his head for the week. The  so called jumper clash is a complete furphy. Richmond should just wear their club jumper and donate the canary top to Gil. The AFL need Richmond, Richmond don't need the AFL. Another piece of b******t is the AFL approved record crowd for yesterday. Prelim crowds have topped the 94k mark in past years and we don't have to wipe another piece of Victorian football history just to sign-off on more AFL propaganda.

Well that's why we need a better clash jumper.

I quite like the one with the red back.

Never had a problem with clash jumpers.

Cannot think of too many professional sports around the world that don't have them.

Must say that the Toiges alternate strip is a "bright" one....... (Wonder if it is a big seller)

I wouldn't mind that either but I don't think that would pass the AFL clash test against the Blues or Bombers or Crows.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
