Jack is immensely popular amongst the other players. If he is being kicked out, this could ruffle more than just Jacks feathers. It's a horrible move and we will get peanuts for him. This will bite us on the arse.

Hey, L 36.  I find your comment the most fascinating I've read about Jack.  If I recall correctly you were the first to 'break the news' that Jack had 'not fulfilled expectations' in the pre season (something that Goodwin and Jones have used against him all season).

Yet you clearly recognise his value to the club.  Can no one see the impact on players, supporters, sponsors if he goes?  Is anyone grilling the coach about the options before we shoot ourselves in the foot and get so many stakeholders off side?

Would really like your thoughts on what is going on.

I am currently sit ting here watching Fox Footy and they have a docco on Richmond on. They are talking about how sacking players and going out and spending big money on one player tore the tigers apart. Players from that era talking about how much it hurt the club.

I feel that Goodwin may be out of touch with the players and how they feel about Jack. This could be very divisive. He sure as hell better know what he is doing.

maybe 8 or so.  I think jacks problem is he's too honest. I had to turn to the adult next to me to make sure i heard him correctly but he was also in shock and heard the same thing

I don't think Goodwin is much of a person for History books. This disquiets me somewhat.

He's being pushed out the door.Simple as that.  Macca and Goody have written him off and all but signed the paperwork it seems. Folk say one thing...do another..

How long is this club going to unceremoniously oust its loyal players:  Junior, Greene, Bruce, Grimes, Dunne, Trengove and now probably Watts.

I'm not suggesting we keep under performing players.

But I'm over rookie coaches, who have no affinity or historical connection or love of our club dumping much loved, loyal players because they want 'to make their mark' or 'make a statement'.

Mfc motto - give us your youth, suffer the injuries and when we get a new coach he gets out his broom and sweeps you out the door.

Not a good look for mfc.

1 player in that group was unceremoniously dumped in James McDonald.

Bruce didn't want a 1 year deal and quit.
Green, Grimes and Trengove were all done. What do you want, a parade for them?
Dunn was found a new home to allow him to continue his career whilst Melbourne got games in to young players, it was a win win

Goodwin is part of a broader list management committee with Todd Viney, will you say he has not historical connection with the MFC?

Goodwin was coach in all but name of Jack's break out year in 2016. He's made some strong comments but otherwise supported Watts. I don't think moving him on is the vendetta some make it out to be. I might just be the logical decision to improve the team and the best thing for Watts as well.

Watts has been one of our highest paid players over his journey and for what he has delivered we owe him no loyalty, his papers were stamped the moment he turned up to training this year underdone, just like Stinger at dogs it sets a bad example to young players and splits the playing group when someone isn't 100% committed.

That is not correct.  It is a myth people make up to support their views.

They sacked Deledio and paid Prestia huge cash last year!

Watch 1997 about the Crows. Blight sacked all their senior players and didn't even meet them in person to do it.

Amazed that on one had you could support a view that a player has consistently failed to deliver the required intensity and preparation and bemoan the coach moving the player.

If this blows up I will be incredibly pizzled off.

We can not afford to go backwards AGAIN

It will do my head in if that happens.

Goodwin better not set us back because of the possible fallout from this.

Jack has had more than enough chances. Showing up in poor form pre season and being dropped late in the year are exactly the first time he has been out of favour.

Sure he is a great kick and when he's on, he's on. But that isnt good enough anymore. You could tell just how frustrated guys like Chunk were when he was on SEN a few weeks back talking about Watts. You have to be on ALL the time. Be professional ALL the time. Good teams like us will never, ever take that next step if the best 22 arent all going in the same direction.

It's overdue IMO.

Do you believe Hawthorn unceremoniously ousted loyal players in Mitchell, Lewis and now possibly Hodge, only for them to play on elsewhere? Or was that prudent list management?

Yes. But on the other hand Jack was on the news the other day saying he wanted to stay. So either this has just been sprung on him, or he was trying to show Dees fans it wasn't his idea.

you could begin a conspiracy theory..  Jack wasnt quite so brilliant after he came back from injury ( which imho he came back too early ) only to all be but rollocked .  Im not sure what he had done , in reality or perceived, for this change of club demeanor but something was off.  I wonder if he smelt a rotting fish ?

or both...not necessarily mutually dependent really.  Its about what he knew..and what the club knows. It might only just be now they both know similar ;)

Unless we can get a pick within 25 or a quality player in return, Watts has to stay with us.

We'll probably have pay some of his contract to Port wouldn't we?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
