150 games on Sunday. A great recruitment story.

Averaged 50 goals a season in the three years we made top four. Over that period I believe he was top 5 in the entire AFL for goals.

Kicked 6 goals in a Grand Final including the two crucial goals in a row to get momentum our way.

Had a down year in 2024 yet still kicked 41.

7th all time for the Dees in goals, needs 8 more to pass the Wiz for 6th.

Could do more with the pressure side of his game but honestly I think we're harsh on him as fans.

Turns 28 this year. As a player who relies on skill and smarts, not athleticism, he could easily have 4-5 more strong seasons in him. Our Luke Bruest.

A great story and one of our best.

But his lazy defensive efforts at times takes the shine off him for me. As you have compared him somewhat to Bruest I was intrigued by Bruests defensive numbers and Bruest's tackles and handballs so I checked and they are a cut above (also 8 x 40goals incl 3 x over 50 goals). Fritsch is not the team player the Bruest is. If he could only add that to his game he would be one of the AFLs all time greats.

Nonetheless he is a great Melbourne player and congrats on 150 games.

Bayley Fritsch is a MFC Legend, he was hindered by injury in 23-24, let’s all hope that Fritta can get back to his ‘21 form where he nailed 59.24 from 190 kicks. If Rooey, Kozzie and one of Turner, AJ or Jeffo fire up Fritta will be back in his true element. Throw in Chin, Sharpe, Langford, Windsor, Langdon and Tracc, who knows how exciting it could get.👍😁

150!  Well done Bayley!

Fritsch's great strength is he's a very good opportunist and excellent in 1 on 1 situations (so slow ball movement forward and long bombs aren't going to suit)

His weakness is that he is not great defensively but there's always room for a Fritsch type as players like that can kick 2 or 3 quick goals and set up a win from nowhere

I think the Jeffo inclusion (in what would’ve been the McAdam role) is a sign that Fritsch will get a sustained trial in a new role pushing up the ground this year. He has the tank, smarts and skills, it would be great to see him as a dynamic half forward not just a deep goal kicker.

Great achievement to come from nowhere (Coldstream) to Casey to 150 games. A premiership and of course the big one - the only 2 time AFLX champion.

Now it’s time to go to a new level for 100 more!

Turns 29 this year. 👍🏽

We made Sunday’s banner last night and it’s gonna look AMAZING. I say “gonna” because it’s hard to know how good it looks ‘til seen from afar.

Anyways, one side acknowledges Fritta’s milestone with a huge graphic. The other side acknowledges Beyond Bank with some shamrocks strewn around. No Jim graphic. Whatevs 🤷‍♀️

The fine folks of Coldstream say hi and whaddya mean “nowhere”? 😂

I hold perpetual respect and admiration for Fritta for his outstanding effort in our 2021 Premiership. His back-to-back goals in the 3rd reversed a scoreboard trajectory that was drifting dangerously away from us. Hindsight tells us this precipitated a 100 to 7 point spanking, and we were by far and away the fitter side on the night, but at the time I was terrified the dogs were close to breaking it open their way.  6 goals in a GF win. Legend.

Van Rooyen and Jefferson both on the field puts me in mind of Fritsch's performance in the magical period late in '21 when we had both Ben Brown and Tom Mcdonald in solid form as tall forward targets.

Fritsch kicked 28 goals in 10 games.

He also kicked another 9 goals in the 3 games Brown was available earlier in the season.

37 goals in 13 games 'with', 21 goals in 11 games 'without'.

Also 15 tackles inside 50 compared to 8, so even his defensive efforts lifted.

Some kids just thrive when given structure ;)

The ending of that season is still hard to believe in hindsight.

Geelong losing a 44 point lead and Gawn sealer after the final siren;

The demolition of the Cats in the PF

Then the GF, looked like the game maybe creeping away from us and then domination.

… and when they’re finally 100% injury/niggle-free since January 2022 👍🏽

Fritsch is a star forward. Just excellent forward craft and feel for where the ball will be. His lack of defensive intensity is baked into all of that. He is what he is.

A forward that kicks 4 goals in a GF while it’s ‘hot’ is a star.

If he moves up the ground slightly - he will immediately becoming the best kick into the forward line in the league IMO. Will it be a case of robbing one apostle to pay another? I think it will work so well that some teams will try to tag him out of existence and how we then go forward then will be that much more challenging. But looking forward to it.

Will clearly go down as a legend of the club with his 6 frankfurts in the GF, and has provided Dees fans with many enjoyable moments.

Seems to be in a bit of a form slump at the moment dating back to the second Freo game onwards last year and didn't play his best in the praccy match 2 weeks ago. Is his apparent revised role further away from goals getting the best out of him?

However it was only 12 months ago he kicked 5 on the currently red hot James Sicily as the forward line was his that day. I'll back him to get back to his best in no time.

Hadn’t realised he’d played so many games. A good run with injury and he could crack the 250 club. Impressive given his late start in the AFL.

Up for grabs end of year according to McClure on ‘Tradies’ podcast, make of it what you will, does seem disinterested and not reaching his potential in this side

Trade in a heartbeat!

Watching his highlights before his 150th game made me realise how far he has fallen.

He used to fly and take some brilliant marks , which I haven’t seen for a long while.

McClure might be the least reliable source in footy media but it wouldn't surprise me if he's right on this occasion

True, he may not be reaching his full potential in this side. But he’s also an extremely lazy footballer.

Surely not... never seen a team lose all their stars after winning a flag... why do we always seem a second away from self destruction 😕

When on song he is a delight to watch. He appears to be struggling with his new role and we don’t play to his strengths.

i can understand why he would want to move if the media can be believed.

That came after he spent 10 minutes explaining why other clubs might be interested in Fritsch if we miss the 8. Not because he’s disinterested or wants out. Just that if we struggle this year, other clubs might be interested given his form slump and lowered value from his peak in 2021-23.

It’s hardly a reach, is it. And it will be forgotten about if it never eventuates because it’s [censored] March.

Let’s play Petracca as a permanent fwd then give him the same delivery that Fritsch cops and let’s see how he goes.

Tracc would at worst get knee’d in the spleen..

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
