That's a different argument. He's got currency now, so if we have to give up something good to address our deficiencies, then it's worth discussing.

So give away a potential10 yr key forward  that will create further decencies.

Pedersen has 1 year left, so what happens when he retires

True. Kelly may have gone past him, but Shiel has been doing it for years now.

I'm very intrigued by the Shiel comment though. @Brayshaw Self, is he on the table or is he seeking a trade? Bizarre, if they've put him on the table.

GWS are yet to decide if he is available but there are discussions about a trade for a top 3 pick at the moment.

Just passing on what I hear. Nothing is set in stone yet as the season is still going. Just because things don't happen doesn't mean they were never happening.

And just because you 'hear' something off Facebook doesn't mean it's fact, which is what you are trying so hard to pass it off as.  Keep trying though, you throw enough darts then you'll hit the board at some stage.

I forgot that this thread was called trade facts.

Mate, I'm literally passing on second hand information from AFL club staff. I don't think you've grasped the concept of this thread.

AFL club staff?  Right.

I heard that the 'Bont' wants out and has nominated the Dees as his club of choice if we can get the deal done.  Sick of the party culture.

Get it done, Dees.

I'm with Wiseblood. This is a piece of crock. The notion that GWS would even consider trading an established star in Shiel for a top 3 pick is ludicrous. They are in their Premiership window now, and Shiel is a key component.

The line "GWS are yet to decide if he is available" suggests that your source is someone trying to bignote themselves.

As good a place as any, though I'd be very surprised if anything came of it. Still ...

"It is understood the Suns sought out Melbourne assistant and Level Four coach Jade Rawlings for a preliminary discussion. It is not clear if the 39-year-old will be formally interviewed. Rawlings has been the Demons' backline assistant since 2012 and has developed a strong resume through stints with the Brisbane Lions and Richmond, where he was caretaker coach for 11 rounds in 2009. Because it's complete and utter rubbish.  It's not a rumour, it's garbage.

Shout out to @Lucifer's Hero who is never far away from a like when someone takes a pot shot in my direction.  Good to see you, too.

There is a good chance that by the time next season comes along they, the AFL, will have changed the Rules so much, that outside speed won't be anywhere near as much in demand as what it is this season. A little tinkering in the middle, like no nomination, could possibly make crowding out further a reality and reduce congestion in close, thus speeding things up, only cleaner.

Aside from this we don't deliver well inside 50, do we?

The way you reacted to Brayshaw self's couple of posts is not far off Satys approach mate - whether it's rubbish or not it came across as being completely OTT.

Watch this space. The game is becoming a congested slog as players lurch from one contest to the next, broken up each time not by clearing the ball but by the umpires stepping in to put everyone out of their misery. Will be interesting to see what if anything the AFL and the Rules Committee do.

For the moment, I don't know that I'd be putting all my recruiting eggs into insiders only - even if we did just see the Bombers bundled out because of a lack of them.

Wasn't Andrew Daff a doctor at the club? I reckon Jane02 might of been confused with what she heard.

No guys, I know Dr Daff's sister and he is currently working for Richmond and is not acquainted with Jane02. Jane02 got her info from  Gaff family memeber who happens to be a health professional (note I did not say doctor). What Gaff wants and how West Coast play it may be different. I am sure MFC are aware of Gaff's interest but whether they can make it reality is a different matter.

I thought the response from The Wise One was a fine bit of satire, equalling in response to the spirit that was suggested by the statement that this thread is for 'Trade Facts'... lol

Maybe this thread should be renamed 'ridiculous trade rumours' ???

Seems to me that any rumour here is (at very best) speculation and more often than not, full of bs and should be taken as such

But I like the party culture bit, that's a club I'd like to be a member of. What's that quote by Groucho Marx about not sure they'd want me as a member?

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
