Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How many Top 10's has Watts had in his 8 or so years at the club?

Coach doesn't have it in for him FFS! He's just got a very lazy streak, nobody ever has or ever will doubt his talent, just his heart.

Lost count of the number of times Watts had led to an advantageous position only be totally IGNORED by the player with the ball.

Another of Jacks faults. He would lead the team in dropping uncontested marks. Maybe that's why his team mates often ignore him.

Such a shame, as he has some wonderful abilities. One of the best kicks I have ever seen. He simply does not enjoy the physical side of the game, and that will never be good enough in a high pressure final.

Can you imagine how he would fare against the manic pressure and physicality of Sydney in a final?

Seems like a ripping bloke, and I still think he is mentally resilient, but I worry for his future if he cannot regain his touch of mid year.

I'm guessing he will get himself back after a stint in VFL but l am worried which jack watts will then turn up for the knock out final/s if we make it. Can't afford no shows.

So agree there is a question make over whether we can trust him to play his role

Good post.

Thats my concern also.

Wouldnt it be bloody wonderful to see him play a great game in a final?

Thankyou DN9, interesting, thought he'd be well up there mostly considering his skills. May well be his application that has let him down.

Very similar to Sylvia in this regard. Sylvia for all his talent only finished 5th in the B&F (twice). Some players just don't get the work rate required to make it as an AFL player.

Watts is in our best 18 without any doubt when he commits & competes, as his skills and vision are top class.

Whan he doesn't bring the commitment Goodwin will put him in the two's.

Side benefit of when he plays is the way he combines with Garlett, watch how often he hand passes to Garlett and puts him into open space.

Glad somebody noticed.

Jack is probably our leading goal assist, best kick for goal and handy goal kicker himself.

I hope he is back and playing well next week against the Pies.

We could argue that Jacks actions were totally out of character.

A quick read of DL and you would know that Jack NEVER competes in the air.

I'd put money on, that he didnt have both arms up trying to mark the ball.

The few contests I saw on T.V, he actually wasn't that bad. Centre contests, on hands and knees fighting to get the ball away. Not bad.

Jack had a good game. Speared a few good passes, worked hard leading up from CHF and playing on ball, competed in the air.

The report was a joke. Just a standard aerial contest where two opponents came in at different angles. Was barely even a free kick.

Should be back against the Pies next week. Will be good to have his kicking skills back!

Softest report of all time. Campbell Brown was laughing. It should be withdrawn. Light bump by Watts' hip to side of opponent. Very light contact. Watts said as much when interviewed after the game.

What rubbish. 20 disposals and 12 marks 4 of them inside 50 I think) and a few shots on goal. Can't kick it as long it seems due to the hammy though. But played all over the ground and easily the best ball user out there today.

Also, that report was the softest thing I've ever seen. As he said on the interview at the end of the game "if I get done for that..."

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
