WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN

Wonder whether that Higgins pick could be used as part of the Brown trade. Perhaps something like our pick 26 and pick 33 for Brown and pick 30.

Would then give us a couple of picks in a row with 30 and 31.

Cant help but wondering what the hold up is?  must be more than just player and swap of picks.  Perhaps part of a multi club deal?

If it takes two second rounders to land Brown, who cares. We get an immediate best 22 player and I'd argue a better player than Cameron.

The other thing about Brown is he's incredibly difficult to match up, because like Jackson, his reach is enormous. The King brothers and Daniher are similar threats for this reason.

Brown improves us significantly.

The other side of this argument is the uncertainty that Brown will be able to get back to his best and our midfield can deliver the football to him.  He isn't a contested big body Forward, he is a tall hit up forward that his performance will hinge on how we kick the ball to him.

Good call here. I have very little confidenece in the coaching panel to effectively deal with the ' see ball - kick ball'  mentality of the midfield into the forward half for which I hold the panel esponsible.

During 2020 when the eyes were miraculously lowrered for a few weeks it all came together , but made a big impact in the media and on here because its such a rarity to see of this team.

It lasted maybe 3 weeks then back to old habits.  Whcih midfield coach will fix - which forward coach will fix.

Adem Yze will be a hero if he can do something on this .

Yes he does and I think it will make some players more concious of their kicking. Even at suburban level you want to do a good kick to your star players.

It's interesting, Mahoney is usually efficient in getting these deals done and we're rarely involved in player trades on the last day that I can recall. Have we got something else brewing, be it player or pick upgrade that's stifling the deal? Or is it just North playing hardball...

higgins is also still one of the best at his role in the competition

cats have arguably paid significant 'overs' but if you factor in smith as well in the trade it's smith and higgins - two genuinely good players - for pick 30

cats are about getting a premiership now; they want to give danger than premiership he (doesn't?) deserve

He is 32.

He had 2 years on his contracted and North only signed him last year.  Doesn't matter his age he was contracted, our bloke isn't and they don't want him.  I will though do a better deal 26 and 43 for Brown and 30

Whoah back @Nudge, @Chook in Perth is Demonland royalty.

Don’t care.

I have a severe dislike for nay-sayers. Let’s go back 12mths and look at all the May haters.

Anyone neggging on giving up 2nd rnd picks for a player like BB is merely asinine IMHO.

60 goals 3+
times and if Cameron kicks doesn’t kick a bag in R22 he’s a Coleman medalist and near 2 time Coleman medallist at that. Great player for us and will bring much joy.

Royalty or not. Club is extremely well run these days and I for one am bloody excited about #50 in 2021

Or the AFL is holding back the 'juicy' trades to create 'drama'.

They will love Treloar, Cameron, Stevenson, Cox, Phillips, Dunkley, Brown announcements being delayed.  That is a lot of fans hanging on (click baiting) for news.

97 pages.  Games of chess between grand masters are quicker than this.  Push the Kangas now to take our offer.  We will then look to grab the Bulldogs pick with pick swaps.

As others have said, North probably want to do the same thing hence we don't want to give them the ability to trump us.

Only time will tell, will the rose coloured glass wearers have the "I  told you so" rights in 12 months or will it be the nah-sayers which I am one on this trade.

May I was all for, bloody good player and more importantly is the general not afraid of telling his team mates how it is

one flag since september '64, underwhelmed.

It’s the rainy days that make us better appreciate the sunshine. A demon/Saints flag as a result will mean a [censored]-load more than a flag for anyone else, no matter when it comes or indeed if.. I love my club and refuse to be one f those red-seat flogs that’s always bagging our own players or shouting “kick the bloody thing”

You'd think they'd release a couple earlier just to keep some interest up, but you're right. They did the same thing the last two years. Almost farcically so.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
