Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why are North dictating the terms here. Pick 33 in the circumstances is reasonable. They pulled their original contract, put him on the table and he has nominated us. They have no leverage. We just need to keep our heads.

we always get dictated to. Mahoney is very ordinary at this.

I think the Jeremy Cameron vs Ben Brown comparison means we are still getting a bargain if it costs the equivalent of #14 or thereabout

The comparison with Cameron is interesting however I'm confident that pretty much every single MFC supporter would pick Cameron over Brown in a head to head

For the same reason Cameron' s value is far greater

I still have doubts about Browns injury, his head space, his ability to apply pressure inside 50 when he doesn't have the ball, his significant reliance on umpires to gift him free kicks ....................

2 x second round picks is overs IMO

Think this thread has divulged into a bit of "pick obsession" and Dodoro style lets be a pain in the backside stuff... you get a chance at 60+ goal kicking forward at 27-28 years of age by using a combination of some 2nd/3rd round picks, you just get the deal done.

Would we rather trade in Brown for pick 80? Sure. But it won't be that and it shouldn't be that, fair business is good business, so let's just get it done.

Does really matter if we pay slight overs for Ben Brown?

As someone mentioned above, it won't be like the Jack Martin scenario where he landed for free at Carlton in the PSD.

If we don't get a trade done tomorrow, he'll never play at Melbourne.

then so be it Hopefully the footy department has a plan B right?

No, but you know there has to be a winner and loser in everything. ? Trump type logic.

To me it is more about future performance rather than what was paid in draft/trade capital.

What would you have paid for him Patches and how would you have made that happen?

I'm not sure but i remember at the time feeling like pick 6 was probably slightly overs. he's had a great year in 2020 but just in that moment i felt if it was say pick 10 i'd have been more comfortable with it.

very happy to have May and what he's bringing to the club, just sharing my thoughts in that moment.

Fair is Fair

Brown doesn't have a contract North pushed him out the door He and the Dees should take advantage of that

That is also fair business

I think one of 31/33 with pick 43 is what we should holding firm on for as long as we can, perhaps drop that down to 26 if they really want to play hard ball. But we should not be letting them dictate terms by the way they have dealt with Brown.

2 second round picks? Hell no.

Aside from Lever (where I think we over-payed) what other scenarios come to mind?

North moved him to the market rather than re-sign Brown, Brown has subsequently and relatively early nominated that he wishes to play with the Dees. Easy scenario, start offers with $1.00, otherwise he may not play footy again - at a place he wishes to be re-located. Move slowly up to pick 26 but preferably 33, with a smile.

Would that plan B revolve around Weideman being double teamed each week and a washed up T Mac jogging around trying to get a kick in our forward line?

Happy to pay a bit overs here. The rewards could be spectacular.

I thought pick 6 for Steven May was quite a lot.

I wonder if Freo feel the same, having paid pick 6 for Hogan..?

Why pay overs when you are in the  better position  That is so melbourne

You reckon any other team would show that consideration I dont think so

Firm and fair will get it done!  North also have to be realistic given their strategy

I think we'd be asking for a future second back with Brown if that's the case, surely.

they'd be looking to do what we are and engaging the dogs for their first round pick.

North's future second is very likely to be 19.

Brown + 19 for 31 + 33 - I doubt it ...

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
