Nah, the hair is a selling point for me. No hair, no deal.

Most pressing external needs imo (shared with many others) are a key forward and another solid winger (while we continue to develop the latter in-house or plug for a year or two - and the trickle-down effect a genuine KPF will deliver to our forward-line).

Have to work out how to juggle that in the immediate-term as to trade cookies and salary cap. Paying up on Brown (for pick ~23 and a sizeable but depressed salary) and bringing in Smith as the two priority players we're most closely connected to in the media suggests the club has identified what we need in line with the fans and have found the best compromise as targets.

Good to see some Sanity set in at NM, if you push a guy out the door you can't demand the world.

Take Brown & Polec for a 2nd & 3rd pick, maybe very lucky & 2 3rd round picks.

Gives you a key forward, Weideman then gets 2nd defender & Polec covers other wingman, North paying 30-40% of his salary!

Brown salary probably at $500k, 250k less than start of year.

Good deal for Demons!

There is one thing we have to remember with Brown and that is you have to deliver it straight on to his chest. Given our poor forward line disposal there is major risk with this and would have to be worked on.

Also watch out for the filth in all this both with Brown this year or next year with the weed. If we get Brown then both he and the weed would have to work well together.

This is why we need isaac Smith as well

This is simply not true.  I'm somewhat ambivalent about Brown, but if Clarkson suddenly wanted him I bet the attitude would change around here.  If it was at the end of 2019 and he was wanting out of North there'd be a different sentiment.

Weideman covers a lot of ground and with good coaching the two can play in the same half.

Here's some brief highlights of just 2018 and he gets many goals where he's not hit lace out on a long lead, including a lot in general play.

TMac to get fit

T Mac goes as part of the deal,, Oh and Oscar can go with him!!

Those 2018 highlights offer COMPELLING evidence that he is not just a lead up forward.

Brown in 2018 was excellent. So was Tmac... whose highlights from that year were equally impressive and we can barely give him away now.  You don’t get rid of a big gun forward for a second rounder unless something serious has happened to his body. We absolutely need due diligence here. Would way rather an elite outside mid.

TMAC is not worth anything at the moment.
we are better off keeping him and getting him back in shape

geez, that's cheap as chips for a multiple 60+ a year goalkicker who has had one poor year

compare with cameron, he's a positive bargain

That’s why I would try couple with Polec as North paid $200k Over the odds to get Him, if we can get him at say $400k, then we have Brown/Polec at $800/900K compared to $8-900k Carlton is paying for Williams.

Then I would have a crack at Higgins from the Tigers or someone similar 3 years @ $300 - $350k and the only other spot I’d want extra coverage is perhaps that small defender role.

Then in one hit we’ve covered two weaknesses key forward and wing, plus given ourselves an extra option for a small forward and small defender.

With Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw and Harmes if used in his right role, Langdon you’ve got a powerful midfield in right age range24-26! Add Max who is 28 going 29 but rucks last longer, plus Jackson as a backup! The other thing I like about Jackson is he is a totally different rucking style to Max, making them a hard rucking combination to match.

Defence, May, Salem, Lever, Rivers, Tomlinson (played a lot better at CHB than wing), with Hibberd, Lockhart and another small defender from one of Giants/Brisbane/Gold Coast/Tigers not getting a crack. Hopefully Petty comes back as a back up defender/swingman.

Yze improves the Kicking skills and an improvement in strategy vs opposition, it’s a different team.

If Brown kicked 2 per game, add 34 goals or 44 in a normal season, as we got nothing out of 2nd key forward this year, you probably add 10% in percentage and win two more games from that stat alone. Yze sorts out Fritsch to 30-20 instead of 22-28. It’s a totally different forward line, Pickett improves and learns to steady, add in a Higgins like forward and our forward line is transformed. Hunt, Spargo, Melksham all have to lift to get a game!

2020 was a fail, but we have a huge potential and a lot of our best players Are heading into that 24-26!age bracket 100 games plus zone, a few exciting kids, 2021-2025 is our opportunity!

hmmm, not many perfect kicks to his lead in that. Close to zero.

agree with @D4Life

if we could land polec and brown in the one fell swoop while giving up little it would be just enough rejuvenation and continuation to our list to add something to the mix for 2021

ultimately no idea how we'd afford it without shedding more than preuss, t mac, o mac, not to mention satisfying north as a trade

you wouldn't see two second rounders getting it done; hawks' high second and our future second plus t mac could make the most sense, possibly?

Edited by whatwhatsaywhat

I'd be playing Brown and Jackson in the same side and putting Weideman on the trade table.

North have put themselves in a poor position with both Polec and Brown re trading, as They have openly said they don’t want them. Turns Brown maybe a first round pick into 2nd and Polec a 2nd into a 3rd.

Teams seem to want Preuss So that frees up $400k, an OMac goes that’s probably $300k that almost covers Brown and Polec.

Hopefully TMac, Lever and May were somewhat front loaded!

No way all 3 can play in the same side

5 hours ago, DeeSpencer said:

Port, Geel, Richmond all have one focal point key forward in Dixon, Hawkins and Lynch.

The secondary talls - Marshall, Stanley and Riewoldt - rarely touch the ball.

Weid and Brown just won’t work. Let’s stick with Weid, use our cap space and draft capital finding guys who can run, kick and pressure to create scoring chances. Zak Butters, Mitch Duncan, Shai Bolton - that’s what we need.

Rubbish re: Richmond. Riewoldt clearly plays a second tall forward.

Never mind St Kilda (King/Membrey) or West Coast (Kennedy/Darling).

But at any rate, the only side that doesn't play two tall forwards is Geelong. Every other finals side played two key forwards. So who cares if players like Riewoldt or Marshall don't get huge touches. If they take marks and kick goals, then isn't that an upgrade on what we currently have?

Now, in saying that, TMac could give us what we're seeking in Brown. I don't see the need for us to take Brown if we're going to keep TMac. It's one or the other for me, and I'll be happy either way.

Agree with the whole post but the bolded bit in particular resonates.

If we get him i think we start looking at West coast or Brisbane structures with 2 big key forwards and then the third being the second ruck. We would be doing alright if we could perform like them.

100% this. Brown and Weid as legit key forwards who provide a contest and hit the scoreboard. Jacko as a roaming mobile third tall whose time is split between forward line and ruck. Give him license to roam up the ground as a marking option along the wing and work back inside 50. Would be a great setup and 100% can work with the right players. Wouldn’t work with say a Pruess roaming instead of Jacko.

Fritsch gets plenty of looks at goal and he doesn’t crash packs
